About
Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

Golfer Reviews
Solid Course Close to the City
The course is conveniently located to NYC. It was in good shape for being the beginning of the season, however, the greens were recently aerated, so they were quite slow. This is expected for this time of year though.
There was an issue as we arrived 15 minutes before our tee time. After paying and getting our cart, we drove up to the starter, only to see that 3 groups were backed up in front of us. We asked those groups when their tee times were, and each of them were 10-20 minutes behind ours. The first starter we dealt with, said that unfortunately they were now placed in front of us, meaning our tee time meant virtually nothing and it was first come first play. However, a new starter approached and after bringing this to his attention, he remedied the issue. I am concerned that if we did not actively address this though, we would have been pushed back at least 30 minutes from our tee time. Just something to be aware of when arriving here.
DON'T EXPECT TO FIND ANYONE TO HELP YOU
1-PLACEMENT OF PINS WAS RANDOM. NOT THE USUAL NUMBER GIVEN RETO LOCATE THE PIN
2-NO WATER TANKS TO DRINK
3-NO SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM S.I. FERRY TO COURSE.
4-FOOD WAS GOOD BUT SERVICE WAS AWEFUL.
IN GENERAL A PLEASANT CROWD OF PEOPLE CHILLING AT THE TERRACE BAR AND RESTAURANT
RESPECTFULLY

Great Course
Course was in fantastic shape. Some very challenging holes and greens. Must hit your drives in the fairway to score well.
Local Course
Silver Lake is a nice local course to play. They have done numerous upgrades to the grounds over the past years that are beautiful and they keep the course in great shape.
Horrible conditions
Course did not drain at all from heavy rains 2 days ago. Every single fairway was soaked.
Greens were sandy.
No order for teeing off...everyone just lined up at the first tee box. No one even asked our group what time we had. We teed off 15 minutes past our time.
Nearly every fairway had more than 4 balls because of errant shots. Fairways are very close to each other.
Good Course, Great Deal
When other courses are packed Silver Lake has openings. Very good prices also.
Slow pace of play and terrible management
I read awesome reviews about this place and decided to head over from queens. This course is about an hr away from where I am and it was a waste of time, toll, money.
Our tee time was set for 12:15 and we got there at 11 only to find out it was backed up 1hr+.
We were also double booked with a walk on group of three.
Tee time was 12:15, we tee'd off at 1:30. Pace of play was dreadful and had to wait on the tee box for a minimum of 15 mins before being able to tee off.
We didnt get to finish our round. Terrible course time management. They should learn to get a better system thag works. Needless to say, everyone was annoyed at the delay and pace of play. I do not recommend this course.
Nice course
Very nice course. Easy to get on. Friendly staff.
Only problem is geese droppings.. I understand it's
Winter so really not much the club can do about that.
Will play again anyhow weather permitting.
Enjoyable
enjoyed the round and pace. course was in good shape especially for the time of year.
Lifelong Islander
Ever since this course has left the American Golf Corporation it has done nothing but improve year to year. Current management has done nothing but put their heart and soul into every bit of this course. From what is was 10 years ago to what it is today is like night and day. The greens are in impeccable shape. In prime season they can rival that of any country club greens. Many of the holes have been lengthened to make the course more challenging. Although it is not the longest course around, it is the most difficult. This is a shotmakers golf course which relies heavily on positioning of your tee shot and working approach shots from left to right and right to left. So many nuances have been added to the layout and character of this golf course, it is truly the hidden gem of Staten Island golf.
just can't get you off on time
another round, another 45 minute delay from scheduled tee time. Tee time was 8:30am Saturday, no frost delay. Arrived with playing partner at 7:45, was told we could not check in or pay and told to come back at 8:30. I said that was the time we were supposed to tee off, so she said come back at 8:25. We came back at 8:25, paid, then got in line behind 8 carts. As we progressed to the front of the line, we were then told to back the cart out of line to allow two other groups to jump ahead of us as they were last minute additions to a men's club (that was not on tee sheet at all). I just can't take this course anymore. They just absolutely cannot get you out within 30 minutes of your tee time! Goodbye.
Nice round of golf.
Course in excellent condition. Gorgeous fall day; had a wonderful round (except for my golfing skill).
Great city course, but...
Course is always well maintained, course offers stuff for both beginners and more advanced players, and staff is nice. My only complaint is the mismanagement of tee times and pace of play. On more than one occasion my tee time has teed off 45min to 1hr late. That's unacceptable. Understand they have golf groups that get priority, but if I book a tee time that is available on line I shouldn't get the the course and start an hour late. Either they are offering too many tee times or they are slotting walk ins ahead of tee times. 5+ hour rounds are a given in the city but tacking on an hour for poor management is a day killer.
Terrible Course Management
We arrived for a 7:52 tee time to find about twenty people waiting to tee off. Turns out the course allowed people to book 6AM-6:30 AM tee times even though it was dark and they were not open. So we had to wait almost 40 minutes to tee off. Then because of how many people were there we waited at every hole.
Never going back
Dave
Nice course, I would play again.
Non Outing Shotgun Start
Overall course conditions were acceptable. Greens were in above average condition, not great but playable. The course was wet when I played due to rain showers the previous night. Layout has lots of hills with a good mixture of holes that makes you play every club in the bag. The weirdest part was they are trying something new with a shotgun start in the morning. Not sure how much of a difference it made in pace of play but kudos to them for experimenting and thinking out of the box.
