Great Golfing Experiance
OGA well worth your time challenging shots and tough greens.
Great Golf Day
good conditions, beautiful course, good people.
Had a wonderful day.
Gem
I have played every course in the portland area and Willamette valley and this course is one of my favorites. Sometimes on the weekends the pace gets slow, but given the reasonableness of the green fees, it makes sense they would not have the same quantity of marshals at some resort courses. Always in good condition, challenging and varying holes for low handicappers and novices. Some forced carries. Greens role well, I probably putt better here than other courses. All out-of-towners with whom I have played have raved about the course and were going home to recommend it to friends.
OGA 'd again
Not sure what it is about this place. This time it was the practice range. Bought a bucket before our round. No rubber tees on the mats and seemingly hard turf so we used the grass tees in front of the mats. Down to 4 balls left to hit and the dude comes over the loudspeaker" ON THE PRACTICE RANGE! MATS ONLY ! . Huh? really? No sign no other indication to use mats.. or even a warning when I bought the bucket
The course was fine, kept for it being a 85* day and the water coolers were all empty and the concession stand at the clubhouse was closed.. HUH?
Oh yeah, and then theres the fact that it took almost 5 1/2 hours to play.
Every stinking time I play there there is something wrong
For Oregon's " Home" of golf it sure seems to me to be an embarrassment to our state.
With the golfnow discount - an excellent deal
midday Saturday round for $20 is a great deal. Pretty rare to see them that low so I had to grab it! Course was in excellent condition from tee to green.
Great Day
Always a pleasure to play there? Great greens and challenging course
great
As usual the course is in excellent condition. The greens are quick and true, bunkers in good condition for this time of year.
great test,had lots of fun
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Course was in fantastic shape especially for January. There were soft areas off the fairway but I was actually getting some forward roll when I hit the fairway. I love this course, and will come to play again many times
Test your skills
This Course was a little challenge for me. With a cold weather, I could not carry far enough to reach the way I want to. But Overall I like the course, I will try again with a good weather.
well groomed fairways
Course layes out very nice and it is in good shape for this time of year. Very good deal as well. Staff puts a lot of effort into course.
Decent Price, Decent Track
I've played the OGA course many times, in the summer the greens are usually in great shape and the course itself is also in great shape.
Yesterday, even after minimal rain last week and a dry summer, the course was already soggy. Greens showed a lot of play and were pretty slow. I also think it's time they take a hard look at the tee boxes, almost every one is crowned now and not flat. Makes tee shots a bit frustrating sometimes.
Overall though the course is fun, and difficult at times. The price is right for October, at $35 for OGA members, you can't beat that.
OGA
Teed off @ 2:00 on a Golf Now deal for $30 to walk. I was matched up with a nice guy from Toronto, we were sandwiched between 3somes. We played the blues (6307/71.0/134) in 3h, 45m, excellent POP for a Sat. afternoon. When we teed off it was completely overcast in the lower 60's, then the sun came out and we finished in the low 70's, very little wind, excellent golf weather. Even after rain earlier in the week, the greens were quick & still usually firm. The traps were excellent, freshly ranked with medium brown sand. The fairways & rough were lush and well to very well maintained. The course played longer than usual with very little roll on tee shots. The tees had been recently aerated and top dressed. Very playable, but not nearly in the condition of the rest of the course. I like the five par 3 and five par 5 layout. They have numerous holes with marsh like areas that are yellow staked. They come across the fairway and requires a lay up shot with a shorter club to get into position to go over on your next shot. Therefore, this course plays longer than the scorecard yardage would indicate. Another hidden level of difficulty for this course is that on 5 different holes, you can lose considerable yardage in addition to the penalty stroke due to the yellow hazards. It can be almost as severe as a lost ball or out of bounds stroke and distance penalty when you start having to replay from 100 yards or more from where your ball actually landed. Four of these holes also have severe slopes in front of the green, where it you come up just short of the green, your ball may roll back into the yellow hazard. Since there is no where to drop on that side not nearer the hole, my conclusion was that I had to replay from the other side. Customer service has been a ++ every time I have played here. Almost everything about this course is top notch in my opinion. Only negatives... they could use more on course water stations and there is no drink cart.
Tukwilla
Course was in excellent condition, greens had been plugged but all plugs had been removed and discarded well away from the areas of play.
the weather was beautiful so was disappointed there was no beverage cart available on a Saturday??
Slow Pace
5 plus hours, your kidding right, wrong...no marshals to speed things up, people behind us skipped last hole and passed 3 groups :( There was an extremely slow group ahead of a 2 some ahead of us, also a 2 some. You think they would have asked us to join them... lol NOT! My playing partner, and Oregonian said that they were unfriendly in Oregon, apparently true. As the "home of Amateur Golf" in Oregon I think you better work on your teaching skills. I was sorrily disappointed after a very good first experience one year ago. Sorry but won't be back and will let all my golf buds know.
very clean
The course is well taken care of. First time playing .
A nice walk
I enjoyed the course , a good mixture of moderate to harder golf holes . I'm not a fan of par 5's that force you to play them a particular way and there are 2 of those but the other 3 are more straight forward and give the golfer a chance to get home in 2 if you have some length off the tee , then the extra par 3 makes for par 72
Hole in 1!
The day was perfect and the course was beautiful. Made my first Hole in 1 on the 17th hole.... does not get any better then that!
Where were the marshals?
Nice enough course, although the greens were a bit bumpy. Very little roll on the tee shots. Play was very slow and no marshals were seen to speed up play. Lots of ball marks on the greens.
OGA course in Woodburn
This course is great!! The greens are nice and roll smooth and a nice layout. I will play here again for sure.
