Pocono Hills Golf Course
About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Course was in great shape, pace of play was awesome.
I have played the course many times. This may have been the best shape I have ever seen the course. Lush green fairways, Greens are always tough ut in very good shape. I will play again for sure this season.
This course is better than it has been in previous years.
The course was well maintained and the greens were excellent & challenging. The pin placement was tough on quite a few holes which made the round a little more challenging. Mr. Ertle has done a great job since he has taken over Fernwood. I recommend playing here.
Nice course,well kept
The fairways were well groomed, and the greens were challenging,
Well maintained, strange layout
The course is in beautiful condition. Layout is a little quirky, with super tight fairways and changing elevations. On the back nine there is a par 5 that should clearly be a par 4, but other than that I had a great time and shot the best round of the year so far. Will play Fernwood again in a heartbeat.
Solid golf course!
With a slope of 123 (white tees), this course is definitely challenging. Plan on a few extra shots to your typical score until you get the feel for it. Some water, some hills, some length, and some narrow landing areas are mixed in to the layout. Overall, though, most of the holes are fair but tough. I enjoy this course even though I can't seem to score well. Do your scoring on the front side because the back nine is no picnic. Very nice golf course!
Excellent course !
Very nice played there several times before Greens were in pristine condition-ball washers were filled with water for cleaning. There wasn't any drinking water-
Challenging course at a good price
The only major issue we had was people that were not playing golf coming out of the condos and walking across the fairways and on the greens. We had to ask them to move. Totally unacceptable!
Solid golf course!!
This course plays quite nicely. There's usually very few players on the course and the layout is very good. The holes are tough, but for the most part fair. While there are no "breath-taking" holes, most of them are interesting. Definitely worth playing. Slope rating from the white tees is 123, and the back nine can get you if your not careful.
Greens are in nice condition for this early in the Season
Had a great day at Fernwood. There were not many other golfers out that day and at times it felt like we had the course to ourselves. There are a few tough holes, mostly because of elevated greens. Overall it was very enjoyable.
Great layout
The course was in excellent condition and a challange.
Nice course nice mix of holes
Playing this time of year is a gamble with the leaves falling but not here..the leaves were off the fairways and most greens had no leaves..of course the leaves are falling some some greens had a few leaves. The staff is always very friendly and I played early afternoon and never saw another golfer.
This course has a lot of distractions.
This course is in a resort. You play right through the conds. The second through fourth holes have a bridal path that runs along side of them. There was a lot of noise from this. On the 10th hole the tee is along side the community pool. At one point on the back nine there were people playing softball in the fairway. When we finished we mentioned to the staff about people being on the fairway they were very upset. They sent someone out to make the people get off.
The greens were in very good shape
The golf course as awhole is in very nice shape the greens were true. Everything other than the golf course itself has much to be desired.
Great For The Price.
The Greens were very good. Not many players to run into.
A bit hilly if you like this type of play.
Some great views......
Going back again soon.
Mountain Golf at its Finest
Super golf course with amazing views. Great elevation changes. What a wonderful, relaxed easy going round of golf. Stayed in a condo right on the course, how could it of been bad.
