Pocono Hills Golf Course
About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Mountain course !
Fun course to play. Front nine provides terrain challenge with strong sloping fairways and greens and long par 5 with blind fairway landing zone from tee. Back nine presents some water but two highly elevated dogleg left greens and very narrow fairways. I always enjoy this course. .
Fun Course
The course is in good shape, well manicured and challenging. Many of the greens are sloped and make paring the hole difficult.
I love the course because of the many challenges.
Course at Fernwood
Relatively short holes, some blind green shots. Greens in great shape. Did not eat there. Some nice scenic views. Not very crowded. Good hole description at tee with ball washers and garbage cans at every hole. Pro shop could do more business if they sold golf shoe spikes and maybe regripped clubs
well maintined but markings for ball position were poor
Front nine was good but back nine runs through timeshares on both sides of very tight fairways. Bring llots of balls.
Nice course
Played 18 with cart through Golf Now for $15.00 conditions very good nice challenges great value will return
Friday senior rate $27, it was "great"
We parked our car and they met us with our cart! Staff was very frindly/helpful. For first time playing there they didn't have a yardage book or printed score card to help but we lucked out with someone that joined us that played here before, a lot of slop on the fairways & greens. We had a great time, you gotta play this place at least once.
Good for practice only
Drove an hour and half from the city hoping for a nice 18-hole course in the pocono's area, but was disappointed. Many of the holes were surrounded by houses with narrow and curvey fairways, just not what I expected. Seems like the whole course is going through renovations at this time and for now I would think that the course is good only for practices at the moment. Other than that, most of the staff were very friendly and kind.
slanted greens and, fast, you must stay belowe the hole
Course in good condition. Tough course not easy to score on, but enjoyed playing it. Great senior rate.
Very nice course
Very friendly staff. The greens were extremely fast and udulating making putting a challenge but overall very enjoyable round.
Fernwood Resort
Pace of play and course condition were excellent. Only downside was resort guests walking and playing frisbee on the course with no clue of chances of being hit. Marshalls were not helpful with this problem. Tourists should be informed course is not the place to go for a walk.
Wouldn't play again
Got a great deal on a course I never played before. Got there and it was next a water slide and huge power lines. Dead bird on fairway of 1st hole, condos all along the back 9. I was solo and grouped with a threesome, requested my own cart because I wasn't sure I had time for 18. This was denied, got put in a cart with a drunk guy, which was tolerable, but group was bad and slow. Ranger parked near us on several holes but didn't say anything, cause group let folks play through. Really awful day.
beau petit terrain
Nice surprise
We were going there not sure how the conditions would be knowing the hotel had closed down. Surprise to us all was good... Greens were in excellent condition and it is a nice challenging course.. Especially the back nine.. We recommend it!!!
great value
I used a hot deal, and I'm glad I'd I paidtop dollar Iwould not have enjoyed it. but forthe price it was worth it. course feels jammed into the area.
Fernewood
Some holes wet but greens in good shape. Fast pace did 18 holes and 3 hours.
Great shape
Greens & fairways are in great shape. Must hit fairways on the correct side (uphill) to hold & also the greens. Very enjoyable day.
this place is great. fun course great views
Had a great time course was in great shape . Can definitely throw a number down here. Great bang for the buck. Everyone there were friendly I will definitely be playing it more this summer.
Scenic course
First time playing this course. Nice course with great views. The course itself was very wet with standing water everywhere. A lot of construction going on as well. However that being said, I don't want to criticize. The course itself had just opened and they received a large amount of rain the night before. So I can completely understand the current conditions. i would play this course again.
Rather shabby
Course was rather shabby. Pace of play was slow. I called to move up my tee time and the guy said "no since you booked it on golf now. But if you want to cancel with golf now and then pay full price, you can make a new earlier tee time".
Great value
We played this course in Nov. - very few people were on the course ( it took my wife and I 3 hours) we took our time and enjoyed everything about the course. It was in great shape with no leaves on the fairway. We got a great deal with golf now. The weather couldn't have better ( no wind - sunny - 52 degrees ) Some holes are quite challenging. I would definitely recommend this course and will play when I get back to the Poconos.
