About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Reasonably priced challenging course.
The corse is in nice condition. The price for a course in the Poconos very good. A fun course that won't empty your wallet.
Fun, but challenging
Front nine pretty straight forward, back nine much tougher!!
Beautiful Day for Golf
Pace of play was excellent, 3 hours. The fairways were alittle brown in spots due to the weather, sand traps need some cosmetic treatment and sand. The greens were in excellent shape for a public course, but a tad slow.

The fairways are starting to brown out in areas due to the heat the last couple of weeks. Some traps need edging and sand (cosmetic), WA weren't in any so it didn't realy matter. The greens were in great shape, just a tad slow.
Great course with some very challenging holes
Very balanced course as regards challenging and divers strategy required
Gold Tees Needed
Typical Pocono Mt. course. Huge gap between red and white tees. Gold tees are needed for Senior golfers. Also, no drinks available even though they had a drink cart parked at start of course. Just for a drink or snack.
Go play
The course is good shape. Starting to dry out in the fairways. Greens still a little slow, but readable.
always a nightmare at the start
Each time I play here it is a nightmare on the #1 tee. Low quality customer base with 0 tee time etiquette. Group waiting to start behind us was 30 min late to their tee time and was trying to go ahead of us. You get what you pay for I guess. Course was nice as always, but they just overcrowd the popular start times and it can make for a long miserable round
First time in 5-years
Pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed our round. 4 hrs 23 mins for 18 on a Saturday. Course is in much better condition than any of us remembered. Shortish but narrow. A couple of holes on the back nine that are just “strange”. Greens were well rolled and true and the young staff were super nice.
Great value for money compared to the resort courses.
