Pocono Hills Golf Course
About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Great value
Good course for usually a great price not overly crowded. Play usually this course 6+ times a year
Unlucky day to play.
A number of factors made pace of play unbearably slow.. Because this is the least expensive course in the area it attracts beginners and high handicappers. Also a ladies tourney was in progress, people were sent off the back nine due to time pressure for a 5pm golf league. I have played other times and things normally run more smoothly. I will avoid Wednesdays in the future.
Very challenging course layout
The challenging hills and the impeccable greens make this my favorite golf course.
Didn’t dig the course
For the most part, the front nine was dead dull and the back nine was challenging. Mostly wild elevation changes. Some of the layouts forced bogeys because of the length and the height of the required shot. Anyway what I found really weird was that they didn’t have any maps on their scorecards because they “were found to be inaccurate.” Also the course cannot be found on the GHIN system. Ignoring all that stuff, I did enjoy myself and my group but I expected more.
Play
Course was good to play . Greens were slow and soft due to a lot of rain . Some puddling in areas.
Beautiful course, great value
There are many golf courses in the Poconos. This one is one of the best value for your dollar. This well maintained course offers challenging holes and beautiful scenery.
What a great course to play
Pocono Hills is where I play when my family stays at the Pocono Mountain Villas. It's always easy to find a tee time and the course is always in great condition. The back nine plays through the resort itself which is a pretty cool feature. The staff is kind kf friendly just mainly bored so eh... thw food at the Warehouse Tavern is top notch, just be sure to know you will be service charged 18%.
Mr Goof
Excellent greeter and Jack of all trades met us first thing when we arrived for our 745am tee time.
Bumpy, but good. Challenging back 9
The first three holes were pretty straightforward and easy. Then you climbed 35% grade Hill and that’s where the fun really started… Most of the greens were in good shape and the fairways as well, but the Teebox were absolutely torn up. The greens were challenging as they were very slanted With pretty challenging pin placement overall, for a Monday we paid $35 with a cart so I would say I would definitely come back. Like I said, a challenging course no doubt, but fun to play with a friend.
Nice course but Not a course for beginner golfers
This public course is great value for intermediate and advanced golfers. Course has sloped greens and lots of elevated holes. The place is clean but lots of golf paths need repair especially areas around the downward cart paths. Food is good in Warehouse restaurant and bathrooms are clean. Staff are friendly in pro shop and in restaurant.
