Good course
I played South/West with a friend and scored my personal best round of the year. I like this course because it has a moderate mixture of wild and hilly with well-cared for fairways and greens. The hills can be a bit challenging sometimes, especially on dry days when your ball will just keep rolling with the contour of the hill if you don't land it on correct side of the fairway. The 27 holes gives this course quite a bit of variety.
fairways
Good shape but starting to brown out in some spots of the fairways but very playable.
There was a mix up with date and time but the staff handled it perfectly. It was my mistake!
27 Hole Flexibility
The 27 hole layout makes South Hills an opportune location to play 18 holes in under 4 hours. While the course is not extremely long it does require accuracy. Shaded tees and asphalt paths could use some work as well as the men's restroom could use an expansion. Despite the criticisms the pace of play, beauty of the course, and friendliness of the staff make this course #1 on my play list.
needs help
not very good condition, greens were bad, overall would not recommend.was nice a few years ago but not being taken care of.
Great Day of golf
Staff was great, course was in good shape and we had a great outing.
May 3
Very few yardage markers. Few ball washers or water stations. Aerated greens made putting unpredictable. Tee boxes already chewed up and not level. Disappointing!
Normally I love south hills
Got kicked off on hole 8, I guess the person working the proshop wanted to go home. Had some new player to the game and my kids (13&10) with me, play was slower but we teed off at 5:45 and kicked off at 7:45 on hole 8. It was a waste of money and time, should have stayed in York to play.
now a regular course for us
each course (north, south, west) consists of 9 holes. We started on West. Absolutely gorgeous course. Some real challenges but not PGA tough. Lots of challenges but a lot of fun. greens were fast and rolling. We finished on the North course. Not bad at all. Some really interesting holes. Greens were freshly aerated, which makes putting a pain, but not enough to dissuade us from making it a regular course to play. Well done South Hills!
Good Round!
Course was in good shape. Some of the tee boxes need some attention as there is no grass to be found. Overall this is a good course for the price ($19). I would not play here if I had to play the regular rate.
Pace of play was outstanding. We finished in 3 1/2 hours and we took our time!
Great Value Course
Didn't know what to expect since it was my first time playing South Hills but it was great. Nice layout with a variety of terrains. Love the Island green. Course was in great shape for being early in the season. Will definitely be playing again.
The staff here doesn't even try.
The staff here doesn't even try.Could be a nice tract but nobody cares.
Good local course, but highly over valued
I live nearby this course so it's convenient to play here when catching a hot deal. However it's highly over valued, this course gets a lot of play and could be a much better course if they would reinvest into the course making some improvements. The staff is not very friendly and the starter is usually in a bad mood. All this being said the course is in above average condition compared to other courses.
Quit challenging
I think we all had a great time. Were else can you go with a few buddies and spend the afternoon having fun for $10 each enjoying the outdoors.
This course has great features.
Played South-West. Nice course design. Challenging and average holes. Had fun. People were very nice.
COURSE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION
GREENS IN GREAT SHAPE
COURSE LOOKED GREAT
GREAT PRICE WITH HOT DEAL
Nice country course
South Hills is a nice set of 3 9's in a rural setting. Darn pine trees come into play if you stray off the course!
Course has 27 fabulous holes.
Can't get enough of this course, me and my fella golfers drive over an hour to get here every week to play all 27.
Water water
I liked this course. it was challenging with water holes and very challenging greens. I would definitely Play this course again with 36 holes it offered a nive variety.
