My day.
Pro shop staff was very personable and friendly. I Enjoy the layout of course. Tee boxes are regular grass and it was high. Fairways on front were not mowed yet as they were working on back nine. A lot of the greens were in rough shape making putting difficult and some bunkers were like concrete. However pace picked up on the back and it was a beautiful day to spend with my fiancé at the course.. the course has a great deal of potential and is always nice to play.
Greens had big bare spots
I was a member there 15 years ago and the course has really went down hill. Big bare spots on the greens and the fairways needed cut bad you hit the fairways and loose balls other golfers were complaining also. They put lots of money in pro shop and restaurants they should spent some on the course
R u kidding me
This Course was unplayable.Way over priced poorly maintained Cloverfield’s on the green.I have no idea why any decent golfer would play this course I would not go back even if they paid me.
Love the course!
We have played on this course several times over the summer! The course has significantly improved under new ownership! Staff are very kind, and course is very enjoyable!
What a beautiful place to play golf!
I played on Oct. 10 the the Sunset Golf Club’s cross country tourney. As if the course wasn’t hard enough, now I have to swing at a different green. It was a blast! We had such a great time, it was beautiful, no noise from the road and everyone was so friendly. I would recommend this course to anyone - beginners or experts - you will not be disappointed!
Good Scenery Poor Conditions
Great spot to take beginning golfer. Layout has potential. Obvious this course has been closed or neglected. New owners showing signs of trying to improve. So dry and hard. No fairways. Pretty clear zero irrigation system. Basically all weeds with 60-70 % dye out on fairways. Greens airrated and every green was at least half dirt/sand and dead grass.
New Carts with GPS helped because it’s hard to know what is a fairway and what is out of bounds.
$30 a bit much for a course in such poor condition. They should tell you that when you check in. Layout could be really pretty. Great views. Peaceful. New owner has a lot of work ahead of them. I would go back if conditions improve. If they were smart they’d give you some kind of coupon to come back at a later date.... unfortunate conditions today.
9/11 outing
Tee boxes were very hard/dry. Greens were hard to putt with dry/burned out areas. New golf carts were excellent with GPS onboard.
The course has great potential BUT
Course has a great layout. I also liked the GPS on the golf cart. However, the condition of the course was horrible. No grass on either the tee boxes or the greens. While putting your ball would roll over a weed and change directions. Tried to play rule that if in fairway you could move to a grassy spot but sometimes there was none nearby
Off Course Amenities
The club house, course, carts, and pace were great. The course itself simply wasn’t in good shape. Weather hasn’t been great in the area, I’m sure that’s a factor. Carts had GPS and the clubhouse looked newly renovated. I’d say they are working to improve!
Sunset g. C.
Staff are working hard to get the course back to form, but have a long way to go. Off course amenities and staff are great.
Improvements Happening
I have played this course several times over the years but this year the course was in the best shape by far. Most of the greens were very good but best of all, most of the geese are gone. In the past you have had to step around goose poo on many of the holes but this year, it has decreased by a lot. And the club house and restrooms have been redone. Technology on the carts showing yardage to hole and electronic scorecard. Very cool. Great job, new owner!
Plus and Minus
I took my son with me to this course for the first time on 7/16. We both enjoyed the round. Here are the plus/minus experiences of the course:
1) Nice, long fairway views. The course has some good scenic holes.
2) Greens were in nice shape. They play slow, but they were all consistent. I enjoyed making the putting adjustment to the faster greens we normally play on.
3) Extra features of the cart, such as GPS, electronic scoring, etc.
4) Not a ton of hazards. I play maybe once a week, so the less hazards the better!
Minus:
1) Tee box area ground was so hard that I could barely get a tee placed in them.
2) Tough to tell the fairway grass from the rough in a lot of areas. Mowing could be improved a little.
3) As has been stated before by others, drainage in certain areas of the course is poor. Some areas were extremely soggy, even though it had not rained when we had played
I would recommend playing, with a caveat: if you are getting a good price on the round. I could not recommend if you are paying over $25, though. It was fun for our first time, but if you are paying more for a round, some may be disappointed with the value perceived.
Course is under new management and they are making major changes. Remodeling club house, Redoing sand traps and new carts with GPS.
Golf day
The course is in good condition the greens are slow and soft.
