Cheap but effective
I took my 7 year old son here on a Monday for his first time. I wanted something close with a low cost and out of the city. We tee’d off at 8:30am. No one around us except for a few players here and there. The tee boxes were like putting tees into the concrete but the greens were taken care of pretty well. Took a minute to get the course bearings and to find hole 1 and 4 but was pretty easy otherwise. At about 9:30 it started packing in and got really busy but we were leaving. I wouldn’t come back to play myself but I would bring him back here again.
Solid 9 hole
Pretty solid 9 hole. Not a wonderful course, but it’s the n much better conditions than most 9 holes, super relaxed and very playable. Perfect course and price to come out and work on your game. Would recommend!
A good spot for a beginner
If you want to take a friend who is new to golf, this is a low stress play to play. It’s not long and the pace of play and crowd allows a beginner to get a feel for golf. The greens are puttable.
It’s an executive length course. An experienced play won’t need a driver or 3 wood.
The course is not in great shape. The bunkers are in complete disrepair.
But the staff is pleasant
The club was probably a nice spot 50 years ago.
Bbreview
Greens in pretty good shape. Tee boxes not so good along with several bunkers.
Fairways cut and kept up especially after all the storms.
Course is short, walkable and fun.
A smidge pricey
Super friendly staff. Like the course layout, makes you use course management. Hole #3 still under construction. Biggest complaint is no push carts to rent and they charge you $30 to drive, which completely negates getting a good deal!
Technical course
•Staff is super nice
•nice layout
•a lot of walkers
•technical course IMO
• no push carts to rent
•hole #3 under construction
•very hilly (know that b4 you decide to walk it)
•fringe of some greens need work
•will cost you $40 w/ a cart
•liked it, will play again
Abington Country Club
Very nice 9-hole course, very well maintained. My only complaint was some of the tee boxes were a little hard to find; better signage / arrows would have helped, but aside from that a very nice 9-hole course, zero complaints. The Fairways and Greens were is very good shape.
Noah, the Marshall. was VERY friendly, courteous, professional and helpful. Looking forward to playing here again.
Better than nothing, barely
Course is in poor shape. Staff aren’t much better. Towards the end of my round several teenagers drove a cart through the course blaring a megaphone. Evidently these were actually employees of the club? Better than nothing. But not by much.
3rd times a Charm
This is my third time playing the course in the last month I enjoy playing here it's a nice little challenging course. It's a 9-0 course so that makes it quick and convenient and for the price it's worth it completely The staff are attentive and excellent the course is well maintained I love coming here
Abington Golf Course
Very nice course, only 9 holes, looking forward to playing there again and again. Course was in very good shape, not perfect, but very nice; very well maintained The Greens were especially nice--very smooth and well maintained. Every putt tracked smoothly and accurately.
My only (minor) complaint / comment was lack of signage on the course vis a `vis the course layout. The course was a little tricky to navigate, namely where is the next hole / tee box. Better signs or arrows would have been a big help. Aside from that, a very pleasant 9-hole course, worth the trip.
Anthony and Abington 👍
My second time here. Anthony introduced himself and was the friendliest most helpful starter I've played for Anthony and Abington or a perfect match
Fun exec 9 when it’s not too busy
These guys have done a really nice job this year. The greens have been nicely improved and roll really well. It’s a tough little course because of the number of par 3s - you need to be scoring with your irons from the very beginning.
My main criticism of this course is that the pace of play can be really slow, as bad as 2.5h for 9 holes especially if you book a hot deal on GolfNow. The antidote for this is to play early in the morning but the downside is it’s then $80 for two which feels high for such a short course.
Either way it’s one of my go tos for playing with my 7yo. They are family friendly and I always have fun. My favorite hole is 4, where they forbid going for the green due to clubhouse strikes. Instead you have to lay up hitting downhill and then hit up to the green with a wedge. Also a big fan of the downhill island green on 6.
It’s not a course where you’ll be pulling out the long clubs. Even in 1, you’re much better pulling out a 7 iron and hitting over the tree, for a full wedge onto the green. Only on 8 and 9 do I pull out a 5 wood, and there’s never space to comfortably bring out a driver. On the uphill hole 8, much better to pull out a hybrid or wood and hit it 200 yards because the right miss is a road.
First impression
I really enjoyed this small point nine hole course staff was very friendly course was a good condition I will definitely be back
Abington Club Review
Great value for a 9 hole course, very short holes only drivable holes are 8 & 9 so heavy iron play. Course condition was rough but after a week of heavy rain. big complaint was they tried to charge a cart fee per player instead of a flat fee to rent a car for your round.
