Great Place
Although the course is starting to show some wear from the season, it is a great place to play and it in very good shape.. You can't beat the price either! We travel from NJ to play, it that good!
Cart paths
Riding to the next hole thru the woods was a great way to cool off between holes.
CC of the Poconos con
Condition of some greens were a little rough, otherwise Course was in good condition. The drive between holes makes this course take longer to play. About 4 hours and 25 minutes.
Great course, good value, not crowded, but still took 5-1/2 hours.
The course is showing wear and tear from the summer heat wave. Some burn out in fairways and some overused tee boxes. Was in much better condition two months ago when we last played there. Pace of play was slow due to two foursomes that refused to yield even after ranger prompted them.
Islands of golf holes
The Country Club of the Poconos golf course is one of my favorite golf courses. The holes are spread so far apart that you feel like you might be the only ones on the course. The greens were in excellent conditions despite the current heat wave this summer. The fairways were cut short but did have a few brown spots.
Confrontational Starter & Slow Greens
This is a town course and I think it serves it's purpose just fine. However, the 5 min drives in between holes were a little too much. Try to stay away from the starter and the carts though. If you go near the carts, the starter will scream at you. He was like a mommy bear with newly born cubs to protect. I was physically threatened by this starter while just checking the cleanliness of the carts. The greens were very slow and I had a hard time adjusting at first.
Hidden Gem, great value
Almost hesitate to write this review because I want this course all for myself. Went out on a hot Tuesday afternoon and payed 29 bucks for 18 holes with a cart. Need a cart here; very hilly and .5 miles between some holes on the course which is spread out amongst a housing development. Today I was lucky to have the course pretty much to myself which was fantastic. The condition of the course is pretty good. Some dead patches of grass on some fairways and pretty slow greens, but by no means a cow pasture. There are some really cool holes and a couple pretty weird ones. There are a couple of potentially drivable par 4s, some long par threes, and some fun 5’s. Overall the course isn’t super hard, but will punish you for bad course management and inaccuracy of the tee. On most holes if you end up in the trees you’ll be lucky to punch back out to the fairway. Lots of elevated tees and greens. There are no traditional water hazards that I remember, but a few swampy areas that act like water hazards. There are a couple holes in which you have to hit a tee shot over the swamps. Overall a fairly challenging course for its distance and definitely the potential for some blow up holes. The fact that I was out there alone made my afternoon incredibly enjoyable and I will play the course again. Don’t expect a tournament course or any crazy amenities but for 30 bucks it was pretty hard to beat!
One of my favorite courses
As a beginner the conditions of the fairways and greens give me a lot of confidence. Knowing that there aren't lumps of ground or huge dry spots (except for hole 10) gave me a sense of confidence that I would strike the ball well. Along with that the greens seemed a little slow but it helped me to find lines and stop the ball a little faster than I normally would. This is one of my favorite courses so far and I think it will be my most played.
Hidden Gem
This course is a hidden gem tucked away in the Poconos. It has a course layout like no other I have ever played, and I doubt there is one like it. You will lose a few balls unless you are extremely accurate, but we enjoyed our round immensely. It is challenging on several holes.
Each holes is truly unique, You have to try it to understand the uniqueness of this course. I make it a point to play at least once each summer when I am up from FL.
Great Day in the mountains
Challenging course, lot's of tricky lies and legs, strane direction of greens but fantastic for any type golfer. Wished the cart was cirulating as it was a hot day but other than that, GREAT GOLF
Great value for the money
There are some challenging holes, but overall it is not difficult. The conditions weren't bad. Some of the fairways were browning. Great course for the price!
Great value
Course in excellent condition...greens are back but pretty slow...we had the place to ourselves on a Friday morning because of impending rain, so 2 of us played in 3:15....some great holes...only #18 is a disappointing finishing hole..
Great course in the Poconos
Great course that's spread out in the quiet woods. Course in good shape even with the lack of rain in the past few weeks. Friendly staff.
