Course is great, GPS cart system sucks
Played today and many things were great. The staff is nice, the course was in great shape and the greens were fast. Couldn’t have asked corn better conditions.
The only problem we had was the GPS carts and cart path only holes (which weren’t clearly marked or notified). When the cart gets close to any restricted area it shut down and a notice comes up on the screen notifying you of a restricted area and tells you to back out of the area. Here’s where the problem exists, once the cart shuts down. It would not run at all, even in reverse, making it impossible to back out of the area as it was telling us to do. We actually had to push the cart up a couple hills so that we could continue our round. Making matters worse, only a few of the 18 holes were cart path only, but none of those were posted. The only way we knew they were cart path only was
When our cart shut down. This seems like a simple (tech) fix. I hope they do
Better than Expected
For this early in the PA season, this was better than I had expected. The greens were slower than last I played here, but it IS March. The rest of the course was in good shape. And even though every tee time was filled, the pace of play did not seem unusually slow.
They have raised the rates, even for weekday senior play, so booking online is a plus.
The GPS units on the carts will shut the cart OFF - sometimes without warning. There is no "reverse" option, either push or call the pro shop. Sometimes they will answer. It IS annoying - NO signs indicating "cart path only," you leave the cart path downhill into a fairway. The cart SHUTS off. No ding dong bell, no option to reverse. Just dead in the fairway. The warning now appears on the GPS: CART PATH RULES. But this is probably just me venting.
Play the course, it was in good shape.
Good golf
Greens are in the best shape that ive seen this early season. And I play 6 or 7 different courses in the area. Pace of play was manageable. But for some reason. I still have yet to meet a friendly person taking the greens fees. Every time in there. The person at the register is always so miserable. But golf was great! And thats what really matters.
Fox cherry
Enjoyed the TFM device which allows the fm radio or connection to you phone to play music. Also allows for gps on the course for yardage. Was not a fan of the cart lockout on hole 16 for not staying perfectly on the path. Other than that wonderful day. Nice getaway!
A day on the Course
The course is in good shape. Play is moderately slow; but every tee time appears full and taken. So it was an acceptable pace. They have raised the rates across the board.
The only gripe was no one said anything about when the GPS shuts off the carts. There are NO signs, and sometimes NO warnings. You drive into unauthorized areas and the cart SHUTS OFF. You need to push it back onto the cart path. And it will let you drive into the restricted areas.
Management seemed unconcerned about this issue. But not about the increase in rates.
Expect a good day of golf. Expect not to play quickly. Ask before you tee off about the cat restrictions.
Good way to warm up for the season
This course is in great shape right now. It’s pretty forgiving when you hit a bad shot. The slightly lower price tag makes it worth the drive from the city.
Shooting Gallery
The course 2as in very good shape. The holes are too close together. It's a freaking shooting gallery. At one time there were 4 foursomes all playing from the same fairway. Granted, that has a lot to do with poor golfers (like the foursome in front of us who played from the blues and 3 out of 4 couldn't hit a fairway to save their lives) but there's only five feet of rough between a number of fairways, greens only 40-50 feet from tee boxes (sometimes on both sides). Price was $8 more than I'd payed at Rolling Acres two days before. Hadn't played here in years, be another year before I'm back.
one of m favorites
Love this course. good condition this time of year. greens great condition and love the layout.great course for the price.
Good course
Good course and pace. Always fun. The guy behind the counter seems to never be in a good mood. Hes always a bit of a D. But otherwise it's a good place to make a tee time.
Fort Cherry
Really enjoy this course. Nice and open. Almost too open ha. Running into a lot of other carts in fairways. Sometimes its balls flying right next to you.
Reasonably priced and only 30 min or so from downtown.
Great course, Rude staff
was super pleased on the course layout and course conditions were prime. sure greens were a little sandy but they were just aerated so that was to be expected. the staff on the other hand (mainly inside proshop) was very rude in the tone and delivery of how they talked. even after saying thank you, all i got back was a stare and nothing spoke back.
Terrible condition
Balls bounced off the greens they like they hit the cart path.
