Challenging but fair.
This course is always in good condition. The holes aren’t easy but it’s fair for all handicap levels. Keep it in the fairway and you have it made.
Staff is always friendly and the Restaurant/Bar has some of the best food and service in the area.
Ken
Some of the white tee boxes were in bad condition with lots of mowed crab grass. The fairways and greens were great. I love this course. It is short, but lots of elevation change and tight mature tree lined fairways. Some greens have good slope.
Terrible Staff!
The female pro shop attendant barely opened on time to check us in for our 6:32 tee time. She made sure to enjoy her cigarette first on the side of the building though.
Once she did open the door, she treated me like a child when I opened the door to walk in because she was trying to silence the alarm.
I let that slide and waited for her to get it silenced. Afterwards I walked in and stated I was checking in for 6:32. Her response... "I'm not even logged in yet, you'll have to wait"
Classy... She has no business having a job there.
It's a shame too, the course is nice for a mini!
Great time even in the rain
Showed up late, still let us play, and had a great time. Good course for beginners. Nice size fairways
Nice challenging coarse
Well maintained course, challenging course.
Caution. Wooden steps on course, deck steps and indoor flooring very slippery if spikes the least bit wet.
Idiot Enforcement Needed
The round was ruined by an idiot in the foursome in front of us. He & his playing partner were late. Other 2 in the group were already on the green as we hit our opening shots about 2 minutes after our tee-time. He jumps in front of us, in spite of our protest instead of just joining the rest of his group on the next tee. He then proceeds to steal my son's ball laying near where he played. We routinely saw him tee off and it was terrible shot after terrible shot, dramatically slowing play. He routinely ignored the "No Carts Beyond This Point" sign, parking right beside the greens. He beat up the tee box with his driver on the next to last hole. Ranger needs to be roaming the course keeping pace of play moving, warning people like this, or kicking them off the course.
Storm Damage
Huge Independence Day storms rolled through area. We played the day after. Multiple trees suffered damage. Course didn't have a chance to clean them up yet. Was surprised more debris was not on the fairways or greens. They were in great shape. We played the Blue Tees. All but 2 of the tee boxes were in great shape. Two of them needs some TLC.
Reliable as usual
Armitage is always in good condition and a challenging play. My only recommendations would be to address some of the cart paths and possibly reduce the number of trees. Although they are part of the course's identity some holes are getting difficult to play with overhanging branches.
Slow pace
Slow pace of play for first 9 holes due to two inexperienced golfers holding us up. One hole one golfer took 3 hits to get it beside the ladies tee box on a par 5.
Worst pace of play of literally any course
Took 2.5 hours to play 9 holes, quit after 11 holes because of it. Started us on the back 9 thinking it may end up opening up after we got to #1, no they were starting people later in the evening at 1. Just want your money, don’t care one bit about pace of play. Course was in amazing shape, only positive I’ll give it. Plus caddy shack is great.
Course is in really good condition for spring golf
The two times I've been there it was windy... But the tree boxes are all maintained, the fairways have shorter grass than the rough, the trees will punish you... Good elevation changes, plenty of dog legs... Just a very solid course.
There was a group that was playing slow ahead of us... And the ranger asked us to play faster... But that was because he didn't see the group in front of us hiding in the woods. It want a big deal... Ranger did his job... just wrong this time.
Watch out for 16
I play this course often a generally great place to play. The greens keeper was clearly ticked off this day. The pin placement on 16 was obnoxiously just above the ridge of the false front. I was on putting for par and rolled off the green (as did everyone in the group) 3 times with the slightest tap. Tough result followed
