Excellent conditions
Tees, fairways and greens in first class condition. Roughs were very challenging as expected. P
Nice course, lousy pace of play
Not sure why but things really slowed way down on the back nine. We'd get to the next tee box and the foursome in front of us had to wait to tee off. By 14 we, had 3 foursome ahead of us waiting to tee off. On a hot day, this just makes things miserable. Course was in great shape, fun top play, and the pro shop staff and starter were very pleasant. Maybe best to play this course on a weekday if this is what weekends are like.
My Favorite
Armitage is always a good experience and I’m happy to call this my home course. Staff is always friendly, course is always well taken care of. They do a good job making sure pace of play is moving along. Great restaurant as well. Considering the space of land this course resides on, it’s fantastic value for what you pay.
Course in great shape!
This course gets a lot of play but is in great shape. It’s a well oiled machine.
Fun and Challenging
This course is short (especially if you hit it 250+), but it was fun sending it into tight spots. Course was in great shape and pace of play was good, especially considering it was a holiday. 17 is a real stand out, beautiful long par 3.
Pros & Cons
Pros: Armitage is a nice public course that is maintained really well for the amount of play it gets. The greens and fairways are always in very good condition. The layout is ideal for all handicaps. While not a long course, there’s plenty of trees and well placed hazards.
Cons: The only part of the course that isn’t maintained well are the tee boxes. There’s generally very little difference between the whites and blues here, so do yourself a favor and play from the blues as they usually are in much better shape than the whites. There are inconsistencies in the bunkers with some not having enough sand in them.
This course is a gem!
If you like old style course layout, I.e. from green to tee box is close. And you like lined fairways with trees this is the place. Not a long course by any means, but fun course that you can score on. Love this place.
unfriendly and slow
The starter was rude and seemed to be in a bad mood. The pace of play was absolutely horrible. I understand old guys wanna play too but the ranger needs to intervene and allow the faster groups to play through.
Solid Course
Solid course with friendly staff. Even on a weekday holiday pace of play was about 4.5 hours. Some of the fairways are narrow and you have to keep your head on a swivel with lots of proximate fairways.
A real treat
A beautiful old style golf course. A real treat to play. This is a must play golf course if you are in the Hershey area. The food and service at the Caddy Shack restaurant was excellent.
