Country Club conditions at a muni price.
I've played Crossgates many times in year past, but if today's experience is representative of how things are there, I might not go anywhere else.
PRO SHOP: despite the plethora of horror tales I'd read about other courses when dealing with GolfNow. com, the guys couldn't have been friendlier OR more accommodating. I was 30 minutes early for my tee time and there was NO one on the 1st tee box or the 1st two holes. Instead of making me wait for the other guys at my time slot they got me out right away.
PACE OF PLAY: I finished in 2 1/2 hours playing 2 balls on my own each hole. Most of the times I've played at Crossgates the pace of play is quick.
COURSE CONDITIONS: The changes they've made over the years have only made the course better. Hole # 3 and #14 are simply better holes now. The greens were a tad slow by Crossgates standard-----------yet they were still quick.
Aesthetically speaking this is still one of the prettiest-----yet challenging short courses in the area.
AMMENITIES: the water stations were all stocked with cold water--------very necessary on a day like today. The ball washers all had fluid.
Crossgates Golf Course
I have played this course many times and have enjoyed each round. The course has various elevations through out your round with some tight fairways. Your game will be challenged throughout the course. The only bad thing is if you hit your ball close to some of the residences around the course you may get an earful about hitting close to their home. I wonder why you would buy a home around a golf course if you are going to act like that???
A challenge
I have played Crossgates quite a few times and it is always a challenge. There are many elevation changes on this course and some of the par 5s (10 and 18) are scorecard killers!!
The course is very well maintained and the greens ran very fast. It is a beautiful course and will be back. Hopefully I will figure out how to play this course better.
Doesn't fit my game
In fairness actually a nice course with scenic views and staff was friendly. Has some holes however that are somewhat 'tricked up' .... short holes with severe doglegs and elevation changes wedged into the landscape ... again nice conditions quick smooth greens but just not my style.
Challege
Crossgates is not a long course but provides many challenging holes that demand accurate shots. Greens are slick and pure. Great course!
Great course
Great course with some challenging holes. Pro shop was nice with lots of golf necessities for good prices! Also an awesome driving range, and nice putting green. I will be returning to this course purchasing through golf now with the greatly discounted price!
A very nice course - not too long - well kept & a special time in march was realized.
Fun Course
Played here on a whim on a Thursday afternoon on a warmer early March day. Course was up to par for being early in the year. Greens were green and fairly fast. Love playing here and especially when the price is right.
First Time Golfers....Beware
You have to play this course several times to get familiar with the layout. Placement is required for most holes. Not a course I would recommend for beginner golfers.
Nice course to get out and swing the clubs
After being inside the whole winter, this course is good to go out and get your clubs swinging again. Very short and driver will barely be used. Also I highly recommend this being a course for anyone who wants to start the game of golf. It gives you different feels with many different type holes .
Awesome winter round!
This was a "warm" winter day, around 50 or so and sunny. The course was in very nice shape considering our very wet, cloudy weather recently. Fairways and greens were as good as could reasonably be expected, tee boxes were aerated but level and grassy, and course had drained very well, as evidenced by no cart path restrictions. My only complaint -a mild one- is that the bunkers were not groomed, but it is off-season. This is a very enjoyable layout, with a variety of elevation changes, hazards, and several unique holes. A real treat in the middle of January, for sure!
Great course, great value
I play here all the time. Can't beat the value. Jason, Frank, and the rest of staff are always very accommodating.
My local go-to
I've been playing at Crossgates since the late 90s. I live a mile from a muni course that lacks the personality, challenges and visuals of Crossgates, and yet costs more than Crossgates. Personally, I think this is the best value in the area. I've had issues in the past where I've called and asked how busy it was, was told it was slow, then got there and it was packed. But I've only a few problems since they are on GolfNow. I hope they get the 3rd hole figured out. This is the 2nd time they've had it closed. It is actually a very fun hole, so hopefully it will get back in shape. I was a little surprised at some fairways and greens being a little rough this week, but we've had so little rain and a hot summer. For an afternoon (3pm) rate of $20 with cart, this place should be packed, but it was pretty much wide open. I came up on a 2-some on the front (who only played 9), and then a 2-some on 15. Other than that, wide open. I urge locals to support this course and keep it going. I think its quite fair, while offering challenges. The rough was a little "rougher" this week, but its not supposed to be easy, eh?
decent
First time visiting this course. Layout has a lot of doglegs, which can be difficult depending on your shot shape. Course was in good shape, no noticeable real issues. Pace of play was horrendous however. We were waiting on every shot on every hole, some tee boxes ended up with multiple groups waiting to tee off. Never saw a marshal or anyone come out to try to speed up play. I'd play there again at a time when it would be uncrowded, but not on a day where it would likely be busy.
Hey "u000007734572" thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are always looking to improve so we appreciate all feedback. We apologize that the pace of play was not up to your standards and hope to see you again soon!
Crossgates
Nice course good shape. Rough is dry but tees, fairways & greens are lush.
2 foursomes one all male one female let me play through.
Hey "Francis9778378" thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We are glad that some of the other groups out there let you play through! Come see us again soon!
Challenging course but worth it
This course was definitely challenging especially the last hole on the back nine, but if you are up to it take the challenge. The only concern that I take with this course is how narrow as congested everything is. Not a whole lot of room on the fairways and personally I do not like courses set up like that.
Hey "u968460850" thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate you coming out and hope to see you again soon!
Rapport qualité prix imbattable
Golf sympa a jouer, surtout pour les droitiers en fade ou slice qui s'adapte bien au terrain. Varié. Greens durs et forte roule qui rend difficile les birdies...
Hey "mannerisms" thank you so much for the positive review. We are so glad that you find the course to be a great value! Thank you for coming out and we hope to see you again soon.
