Northampton Valley Country Club
About
Northampton Valley Country Club, proudly owned by Northampton Township, the golf course first opened in 1963. It is well known among locals as one of the Greater Philadelphia area's best courses. The layout has a classic design with tree-lined fairways and gently sloped greens. Several strategically placed bunkers lurk along the greens and there are a few water hazards that come into play as well. The par-70 golf course is a manageable 6,400 yards from the back tees. It's a traditional design that is player friendly enough for all skill levels but there are risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to low handicappers. In addition to the golf course, Northampton Valley has a driving range with new range balls which is open to the public and a 10,000 sq. ft. practice green with a pristine sand trap for patrons to work on their short game.

Course is in great condition
Course is in great condition. Great job by your greenskeeper.
Better than what I remembered
It had been many years since I last played here. When you look at the scorecard, it looks like a short course. Not so fast though as it plays a lot longer than it looks. The back nine with all the water creates some real challenges. Greens were still in recovery mode from aeration but playable. Will definitely return sooner.
Always in great shape
Course is usually in solid shape. Quicker service at the turn would be the next step up.
Starter is an karen
I show up I pay for a cart and tee time... starter makes me put the cart back to double us up... which is stupid because I'm still essentially a solo golfer playing with old men and now stuck in the cart with them... then I see groups behind us all in their own carts acting a fool riding up and down the fairway we're playing. Then out if no where a group of 6 people are behind us using 4 carts.... next time I won't give the cart up I paid for and where ever they want to take we'll have to go
League slowed down pace of play
To be fair the Pro shop did warn me about the league playing in front of my tee time. No one actually made sure they were playing with pace. Could see both groups in front of me mostly walkers, not just going to their ball but stopping with the other golfers balls on their way to their own, p really slowing down the pace. Back nine was backed up to the point two groups waiting at the tee boxes. Not 100% the course fault but would of been nice to see a Marshall or starter out pushing the pace, especially when they have pace of play posted in their carts.
Pace of play
Biggest problem in golf today is pace of play. Northampton at the most is a 4 hour course, not 4hours 45 mins as it was when we played. Nothing done to maintain pace by course staff.
Second round
This was the second time I played this course, first time was with my dad, brother, and a friend of my dad. This round I was matched with another group of three. I don’t play much, and I am inconsistent with my swing and contact. The course was pretty straightforward, not too many difficult hazards, good for someone of my skill level. I ended up shooting a 113 on a par 70 which I was honestly pretty happy with, I had a few good holes where I strung some good shots together, ending in a couple bogeys. 5 GIR, but only 3 FIR. My putting added a lot of strokes to the round and my inconsistency was apparent, but it was a fun day, and hopefully with a more regular play schedule I will improve.
