Middletown Country Club has been one of Bucks County's major golfing destinations for more than a century. Originally designed as a nine-hole golf course in 1913 by Scottish architect Alexander Findlay, the second nine was added three years later. In the many years since opening, the golf course has undergone renovations by both George Fazio and Stephen Kay. This tough course is proof that a layout doesn't have to be 7,500-plus yards to be a challenge. Although the Middletown C.C. golf course plays to a seemingly modest yardage of 6,217 from the back tees, the rolling terrain provided by its location in the scenic Neshaminy Valley makes the course seem much longer. The small greens have plenty of undulations and you'll also be faced with a variety of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. There are also towering trees looming above the fairways and water comes into play throughout the golf course as well.

Needed repairs are in progress

Tuesday afternoon and warm for October was definitely the draw. It already started, but now trying to beat the barrage of leaves soon to come to future rounds. This course is generally well maintained and the fairways and greens were In good shape. The one big issue this round was a lot of active groundskeeping and construction; mostly of tee boxes. There were a lot of temporary tee boxes and active construction of new or replacement boxes. It understandable they would do it this time of year, so that all can be in great shape in the spring. All in all it was a good time playing with others who were local and frequent players at this course.

Not worth it

Geeens were beat up. There were two twosomes in front of us…why were they not playing together? The temporary tee boxes were a joke. I won’t be back.

Great when it’s done with it’s faults

The current price for play is insane for the condition of the course right now. It had at least 3 holes short with driving range pads as the tee box. They should have change the price when they started construction. After they finish it will probably be worth it. Layout is great but bad conditions

Love this course usually

I regularly golf at this course and usually really enjoy it, however this round was extremely overbooked, pace of play was the worst I have ever experienced at any golf course ever. My foursome got turned into a 6-some in the middle of the round, and even without that happening every tee box had a line waiting. AND on top of all this, the carts had to be in by 7PM (which shouldn’t have been an issue with my 2:40 tee time) and we were racing against the daylight (with 6 people having to putt on the same green!).

Just not an ideal round, went home extremely frustrated with what had just over an almost 5 hour round. (My buddy and I usually finish your course in 3.5 hours or less for reference)

Sorry for the poor review, but I have to be honest.

Nice day to play golf

Third time playing this course. Great for beginners.

The one thing I was disappointed about is that they’re working on a few tee boxes(redoing them). While you’re still able to play the hole is is a makeshift tee box. It would’ve been nice to know this was going on. It will be nice once complete I would imagine however.

Disappointed

Grew up playing Middletown but the place has become an embarrassment. It’s September and they’re ripping up 2 tee boxes so you have to tee off a mat in the fairway. Pace of play is absolutely horrific. Just a shame to see this place plummet that way it has.

This course will just drop a group in front of you randomly…

The round started off great wide open no one slowing us down everyone was friends up until…. We were finishing the 9 th hole, as I chipped on the green the female ranger drove by with a group of golfers and just placed them on the 10th t-box. Mind there was no conversation, just bypassed us without saying a word, which made no sense.

On top of that we had 2 players in our group and here now we have 3 ultra slow players with no sense of pace or care in front which destroyed the whole back 9 as now we had to wait every shot and on every hole. The most ridiculous experience in a golf course I’ve ever had playing for almost 10 years now.

What has happened to Middletown Country Club?

As a resident of Middletown Township, I have played this course several times, although not in the 5 years at least. That said, I did expect better playing conditions. Tee boxes were all either bare, or loaded with crabgrass, meaning previously bare. Most greens and fairways were in decent shape. I appears new cart paths are in the works as there were many freshly formed dirt paths by a skid steer with a bucket.

No one was manning the "snack bar" at the 5th hole and no "cart girl" was roaming the course offering drinks or snacks. As a T1D, this made the day extremely challenging and dangerous.

For what they charge, better overall conditions is the expectation. I've played the course in past, in better shape. Hopefully, these things will be rectified before I consider booking another tee time at my "home course".

Disappointing conditions

Tee boxes in bad shape, weedy and some greens worn and abused. Since the course was in fair condition many players didn’t repair their ball marks on green.

Been coming here for years and the course has stayed the same but the prices have gone up every year. Pace of play is slow because it's mostly old guys who get tuckered out by the back 9. Then you get the course officiants who blame you even though you're waiting for the groups of old guys with the 7 am tee time still playing at noon.

Conditions were terrible

They should call this course crab grass golf club. Fairways and rough are 75% crab grass. Terrible experience. I want my money back.
