Great course
Always one of the favorite courses in the area. Staff was nice. Course was in great shape for late winter. Greens rolled so smooth & quick. We had 1 player not show and got a beginning player paired with us who showed up to walk on, which made the round take a lot longer than it should have especially on a busy Sunday morning.
Could have been better
You can’t take the cart to the parking lot. So you have to carry everything from their very long parking lot to the club house. Once we got inside the pro shop was very nice. The staff was “ok”. Not rude but not all that friendly either. The snack bar was very good. Huge hot dogs and decent burgers. Once we got our cart the marshal informed me that even though I only had Gatorade in my cooler I couldn’t take it with me. I had to leave it with him but could use the carts cooler. Well the cart cooler barely fit 2 of the 6 gatorades we brought With us. The driving range only allows irons. No woods or drivers period. The “large” bucket of balls were definitely a small everywhere I had been and they charge $12 for that. I had approximately 30-40 balls in the “large” bucket. The range needs a catch net on the right side to keep the balls off of hole 18s fairway. So you definitely need an orange ball on the 18th hole so you can determine your ball from the rest. There was only on hole where I had to fight to get my tee in the ground. From being so compacted. The course was laid out nicely. And there was several holes where I had to repair other people’s divots. There was a conjoined green on hole 8 & 14. Which was pretty neat. I’ve never seen that before. Overall the greens were in good shape. And the fairways were good. The carts are electric and a very nice electronic scorecard where you could even directly email the scorecard to yourself from the cart when your done. My bigg st complaint is that the carts are GPS controlled so if you get out of bounds at somewhere where they have programmed the cart no to go, it WILL shut down. And you have to drive in reverse until you get back into an area that’s acceptable. It was VERY VERY aggravating. Enough so that this would probably be the last time I’ll play the course. Play was slow only because of the people in from of us. Hole 10 is where the backup and slow play started. Very nice putting green but you can’t chip because there are signs everywhere telling you not to, but they do have a chipping green but it’s not as nice or good as the putting.green. Several holes had water hazards and most holes have a bunker or two just in the right spots that where it screws up your shot. 3 water coolers and a beverage cart girl every now and then. I believe I saw her 3 times during the game. But the carts were so aggravating that I probably won’t be returning.
Great course, great condition, but very crowded
The course is great; the layout reminds you of a country club with some tricky doglegs, narrow chutes off the tee, and a need to play strategic golf. I thought the greens rolled very well, and overall I enjoyed the course and will be back. Not a lot of forced carries, but there are a fair number of different kinds of hazards that can pump the score up pretty quickly if you have an off day.
The downside of this course is that it's (from my understanding) by far the nicest public course in the Murfreesboro area, and at $45 to ride on an in-season weekend morning, a very good value. Thus, it was extremely crowded. There were no rangers on the course, though the GPS does tell you how far ahead or behind the proper pace you are, but most people don't change their play unless they get warned by an actual person.
Clubhouse was decent. Separate putting and chipping greens were a nice touch. The driving range is irons only.
Great shape & still green. No idea where flag on green is.
The course is in great shape, especially for this time of year & also everything is still green! A few tee boxes could have been mowed lower but overall in great shape. The fairways were nice and got good run out. Other than players not fixing divots or poorly fixing them, the greens were in great shape. The ball rolled true & while pretty quick they still held shots nicely. Only complaint is you have no idea where the flag is on the green. Some of the greens are over 30 yards long so that effects the club you choose depending on where it is. Several greens you can not see the putting surface so you just have to aim for the middle & hope you're right. While the new gps & carts are nice, they need to find a way to let you know if flag is f/m/b either by different color flags or a pin hole location.
Best public course in the Middle TN area!
Course is always in great shape. A joy to play and challenging and the staff is friendly and top notch.Anyone that gets a chance, drive out of your play this gem!
Great course
This course is ALWAYS in great shape. Course conditions are always top notch in relation to the seasons. You cannot find a better public course in the area. Great practice facility as well. Big putting green, good size driving range, and also a great short game area with a bunker. I love this course. My only complaint would be that they are not on GolfNow, so that stops me from playing here more often. I only play 3-5 times a year here as opposed to 15-20 if it were on GolfNow
Find it and play it
Quite a nice city owned course. Greens and fairways were A+. Fairways were A. Layout was B+. Experience was an A. Overall value was A (just a tad high even for a Sunday morning at $44. Weekday senior rate of $28 makes this A+..try it you will like it. We found this on the net as we were driving from Florida to St. Louis and looked for a place to stay and play
best muni i have ever played
This course is a wonderful course to play. The layut forces you to hit all the shots. The greens are fast and elevated so if you miss green be careful with chip and pitch shots.
What are you from Kentucky?? Here is Middle Tennessee our rates are a little higher ($65-80 typically) due to the shortage of courses in the area. Stay in Florida if you're going to complain about the prices. $44 is a great value to play OFGC.
