Top Tier Pro Shop Staff
Love this track!! It's well under 7,000 yds, BUT the unique course layout and signature holes make it a memorable round. The staff is A-1 and they treat me like one of their own! My homies affectionately call this course, "Smyrna Augusta National." If you want a charming course with the best pro shop staff, book a tee time here ASAP!
Fair Enough
This course is a bag of mixed reviews. The staff was friendly, I heard good things about the food but I did not indulge. Of course layout was basic. Not difficult at all and I suck. Most of the greens are on the smaller side bet were kept up really well while some of them, although well groomed, had weird crack like indentations that were essentially ball detouring obstacles. The tee boxes are level and well groomed for the most part. The front 9 are loud, two fairways alongside busy main road, and a couple more close enough for distraction. The holes are straight forward with barely a dog leg or two. No hills, or difficult water hazards / crossing, a couple of sand traps here and there but nothing fancy and with loose lips. The carts are electric and are basic with no fancy options, but they contain good speed.
The back 9 is separated from the front 9 by a 1/4 mile stretch that takes you through a tunnel that goes across that busy main road mentioned above. Needless to say it was pretty much the same as front 9, however it seemed a bit more peaceful, quiet and a need for a stronger game play to a more traditional layout that included some fun moments. That said, unlike most courses, the 18th was a bogus plain jane with no real "thank you for playing, please come again" kind of send off. That was disappointing.
So as it stands I would say that Smyrna Golf Course would be a great place to practice, or for seniors, or to teach rookies of all ages, but if only not for the price.
The price sucks for what you get, but I guess you can't blame them, the way the world is right now I'm sure the materials for maintenance has sky rocketed.
Still though.. better courses, more bang for your buck elsewhere., but I'd keep SGC in your back pocket just in case, they are worthy of that for sure.
Smyrna Golf
This course is nice. Most of the holes are long par 4s with limited sight to the hole, trees, ditches and traps. It’s a good mix of straight fairways / dog legs, but also some challenges if you don’t lay your first drive in the right position.
Good for the price
The greens were in pretty rough shape. No real noticeable difference between the fairways and the rough. Despite all of that the layout was fun and the pace of play (especially on a Saturday) was fantastic.
First Time-Mixed Review
First time at Smyrna Golf. Way too crowded, greens were just aerated but no one bothered to mention it-nor offer a discount. It’s a wide open course so you can spray it right and left and never lose a ball. Lots of places needing grass. Good for high handicap players and walkers. Too many slow players for me. But any golf is good golf!
Smyna
Cut my teeth on this course still needs green improvement but they workin on it
Cours Aeration
The course is in good condition however the greens had been aerated and the greens do need some minor repairs.
Worst Greens in Nashville Area
Played here previously and greens were fair. This time they were pitted and extremely weak turf coverage.
For beginners
The course has a good layout, but the greens were in horrible condition. The greens were either 70% divot or just dirt.
Greens in need of repair
Good little course, but the greens really need to be fixed. I would not recommend the course because of the current greens on the front for sure.
Greens need attention
On this day, the greens were in horrible shape and that is a shame because they have been good in the past.
Greens need work
We played early and under 3 hours. Greens need work but fairways are fine
