Ted Rhodes Golf Course
About
Ted Rhodes Golf Course sits on the Cumberland River's North Nashville banks, and was originally named the Cumberland Golf Course, after that body of water, back when it only had nine holes, first laid out way back in 1953. A 1992 redesign added nine more holes, and nowadays golfers get 18 holes of links-style golf, complete with lakes and bunkers that make for good times. Big greens provide big targets for approaches on this walkable golf course.
The par-72 Ted Rhodes Golf Course measures 6,669 yards from the Blue tees, and offers a fourth set of tees that play to 5,010 yards for the ladies. A round of golf kicks off big on a par-5 hole that comes in at 555 yards from the Blue tee, one of two long holes, with the back nine also opening on a 534-yard hole. With that in mind, the golf course concludes with a relative whimper, on a par-4 hole that measures just 432 yards from the Blue tee.
Something to look for on the Ted Rhodes Golf Course is the fauna: Turtles, fish, muskrats and beavers all make their homes in the golf course's lakes and river.

Couldn't tell where rough ended and fairway started. Lots of "patchy" grass. Maybe more mud than actual grass on course
OK course...not great staff
Staff and regular players do not recognize common courtesy of letting faster players play through. They let me book as a single on a Sunday. One group (non regulars) let me play through. The group in front of them (regulars) were playing a decent pace but no way as fast as a single. I caught that group on 3 tee boxes and they just ignored me. They stopped in the clubhouse at The turn. I went to the 10th tee with the intent to start because it was open. The club staff ran out and prevented me from playing. Instead I had to wait about 8 more minutes for the regulars to go. I asked the staff why. They indicated that the regulars were always there and it was my fault for playing as a single during a Sunday. They were friendly but not knowledgable. It is a city owned course so getting new customers is not a concern. Also they only have a 200 yard "shag" driving range so now way to practice before you play. The course itself was not terrible. Nice greens but a little short.
Great public course
Tee to green fairways are good, rough is tough and greens were in great shape, tough to read breaks.
Round took less than 4 hours and was great fun
Great Track
The course layout is challenging but fair. Would love to play it 10 times a year.
Worth considering
Played this track with a large group for a bachelor party. Course was in great shape for a public course in December, and for the cost, is a solid value.
Horrible conditions
Greens were horrible. Tee boxes poor as well. Should charge half price until the course conditions improve.
First time here
Fun course playing along the river for a few holes, challenging but makes you play smart. Course was in very good condition
Good Course
This a fun and pretty challenging golf course especially from the tips. Unfortunately the greens were being aireated and so the greens were not as smooth as normal. Other than that the fairways are nice and the course is fun to play!
Water maze
Upon first arriving and taking a good look at the course we find water on every hole except maybe 3. They have a putting green and a pitching practice area but no practice area for your woods or irons. The course was very well groomed and so green. The water was a little intimidating and I refused to play with my favorite golf balls but in the end I only lost two balls. I hit the best round of my life. Even with the 1 hour rain delay the course was in great shape. I would play here again in a heartbeat.
Nice course
I really enjoy this course when the pace of play is reasonable. Sometimes it takes 5hrs to play sometimes you can finish in 3.5hrs. Great greens for a city course and plenty of variety between holes. Overall great course close to downtown. I'm
A very pleasant experience
Had a day off so I decided to sneak in 18 holes in about 3 hours. Other than having to play through one foursome in front of me, literally did not have to wait on a single tee box the rest of the way (this was on a Tuesday around midday). Was able to finish in a tidy 2 hours, 20 minutes, and the course was in fairly good condition. There were a couple patchy spots, but the greens were all in solid condition and rolled nice. Not super challenging (except a fair number of hazards), but a couple really interesting holes! Would definitely play again
Enjoyed like always
It was a great day at the course. Course was in excellent shape. Due to all the recent rain the course was soft, green, and beautiful. Greens rolled at a good pace and held approach shots very well. The fairways were in great shape as well. This course challenges all of your game and is fair while challenging.
Enjoyable course
A good mixture of somewhat challenging and not-so-challenging holes. Nice green speed; not too fast, not too slow. Sand traps could use a little work. Good height of grass in fairways. Easy to navigate.
course play
There is a lot of water and the tee shot need to be placed on some holes. You just can't grip and rip your tee shot on every hole, but it does play fair and enjoyable. The greens were a little slow.Pace of play was good.
Weekend Warrior
I liked the course. The fairways have very tight lies. Appears they are mowed that way on purpose. Some patches of bare spots need attention but that comes with public courses
Nice greens
Nice course. Not the best in nashville for the money but played well. Like that they have water bunkers and nice greens. Could use a little work on fairways but I liked it!!
A good Saturday afternoon
Booked this course via GolfNow for first time. Have planned a few times previously; mostly just front nine as after work outing.
A bit of a snafu at the start as someone else had booked the other 2some slot online, but brought 4. Luckily I noticed and pro shop sent me out ahead of them. Played with / through several groups (all gracious) before finally finishing back 9 with a threesome I caught at the turn.
Course was quite wet but still very playable. It's a good balance of risk/reward with enough water to make shot placement key. Not particularly long even from blue tees. Greens putted well.
I do wish yardage markers were more present and/or visible.
Look forward to playing again soon.
