Blackhawk Golf Club
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 12/2019.
Blackhawk Golf Club sprawls across verdant, gently rolling terrain that provides a picturesque setting and ideal landscape for a round of golf. The family-run course has been one of central Ohio's most popular public golf courses since opening in 1964. The club has built its reputation on its friendly atmosphere and extremely affordable rates. Experienced golfers and beginners alike will find the course enjoyable thanks to the beautifully manicured fairways. The greens are slightly undulating and require a bit of strategy. There is a stream that cuts through the golf course as well as a number of small ponds that come into play on six holes. Bunkering is sparse but there are a few strategically placed along the greensides. Blackhawk Golf Club's 11th hole is notable for being one of the course's most scenic and also one of its most challenging.

Played 9 holes with a buddy, paid their twilight rate of $23/ea for "all you can golf until sunset". The course was in good shape, and the greens were well cared for and playable despite the late hour we got there. The guys running the clubhouse were friendly as well, and humored a rookie like me asking about the driving range and chipping green.
The course has some interesting terrain, and the design created a few truly beautiful moments as the sun sank in the west. After playing we shared a drink outside the clubhouse and chatted with one of the pros for a bit about just how pretty it all was as evening set in.
The course posed a challenge without overwhelming me, and the staff made the experience even more enjoyable. I'll be back.
First visit of the season. Looking good.
Happy that they are open again. One of my favorite courses in the Columbus area. Greens are already in pretty nice shape just coming out of the winter. Not as quick as they will be in summer, but rolling nicely already.
Good test of golf. Nice variety of holes. Elevation changes. Mature Trees. Creek. A couple Lakes. Not very long, but the layout still provides a good challenge if you are a longer hitter. Definitely a course you will learn to play better after a few visits. Some subtleties that you can't know of the first time around. Good to play with a regular if you can. Get some tips. Add a club here. Never go long right here. Iron off the tee here no matter how much you think it's driver. Nice place. Nice staff. 5 stars. Excellent value.
Blackhawk Golf Club
Luke Bowersock and his staff do a great job at Blackhawk. This was one of those bonus warm pre-spring days and the course was ready for large volume.
Over all a great experience. Course was in great shape for the time of year. $ for $ one of the best values in town.
Good Course challenging
Challenging course excellent fairways, fast greens. Found rough around greens difficult to chip from.
great natural layout. course has everything you like to see in a golf course. I'll definitely be playing there again.
Why Did I Wait So Long???
I have to admit I tend to play the same courses repeatedly, once I find ones I like. I have been burned be visiting courses that looked good from the pictures, but then turned out to be anything but that.
One of my golfing buddies and I decided to "take the plunge" and try out a new course--and boy am I glad I did.
If you grade your experience on the golf course alone, Blackhawk golf course should be called Blackhawk Country Club, such was the condition of the course itself. And while there there was no fancy club house such as what you will encounter at New Albany Links or Longaberger, I don't come to these courses to sit around in the clubhouse. Even still, the pro shop is well equipped with just about anything the beginning--or avid golfer--needs.
From the white tees, the course is not overly long, but you may want to think twice before playing it from the tips--unless you are both long and straight as the fairways are plenty tight and can offer challenges to those who spray the tee shot.
Still the course is so extremely well maintained, one will likely experience momentary frustration when forced to pitch his or her ball back into the pristine fairways.
And once you get to the greens--which again are immaculately manicured, you better have your "A" game on as they are fast but certainly reward the well stroked putt.
Regardless of the price, this course is absolutely worth playing. I will definitely return here again--and often--if my wife permits!
I thought the course was very well taken care of. Players were very friendly and willing to let you play through. Greens were fast and very nice. Overall enjoyable experience.
Second time playing this course. Deecent tee boxes, clean fairwais, greens have true potential if they move cup more often. Can't complain too much I got it for 16$.
Beautiful Day on the Course
Great weather, nice layout and a little challenge!
Course was in great shape. Only negative I have is that the greens were a little rough from the golfers that morning not picking up their feet and repairing their ball marks.
Course was in good condition. Pin placement was the hardest I have encountered on this course. Weather was good and the pace of play was about average, definetly not fast.
Came into town for a business meeting and played a round to kill some time. Course was in beautiful shape. Played great and very good test from blues.
One of my favorite courses
Nice layout. Fairly tight but playable. Nice medium-fast greens. For a courses without bentgrass fairways, the condition was (and is normally) excellent.
First time playing this course. I got it for $16 on a hot deal. My favorite course by far that I've played in Ohio.
Course was in good shape
Course was in good shape, rough was very thick and hard to get out of due to a lot of rain the past few days.
Nice layout, great value in the Columbus, OH area.
Thoroughly enjoyed Blackhawk. Overall, despite a recent wet spell, the course was in excellent condition. Greens not overly fast or contoured too much. Nice variety of holes, especially the par 3s and 5s. Some changes in elevation, but none severe. Friendly staff too.
Good Ole Blackhawk
I've been playing Blackhawk Golf Course for 40 years and always have liked the terrain and feel of the course. Not real difficult but still not easy. Lots of fun there! Amazing how they've kept it so nice...
Course is in great shape, need longer tees but there is t much room to do so. Greens were not cut before we got out 7:12AM
