Royal American Links Golf Club

About
Royal American Links Golf Club pays homage to the birthplace of golf, the seaside links of Scotland, an inspiration that is also reflected in the architecture of the clubhouse. The 18-hole course was created in the traditional link-style but with added features not typical of the classic design including water coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also large, deep bunkers protect the sloping greens, many of which are double-tiered. Royal American Links Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 12th. Its green is guarded by a not only a large rock wall but also water to the front and left. There is a large bunker to the left of the green that will swallow any errant shots but players with a sharp short game will be able to manage.

Course conditions
The tee boxes were in bad shape. Muddy with no grass for majority of them. Greens in good shape with nice speed
Good course
It's a good course, a little more beat up this year than normal but it's late in the season. Overall a good time and I'll play there again.
Used to be my favorite
I play here several times a year. The course outings are always fun and what is included is great. This year was different. The course looks like a work in progress, but not sure what project will get done first??? Also I always enjoyed playing this course because of the customer service and that has also changed this year.
Don’t Play this Year
This has always been a decent course. However, as of 9/27/20, it is unplayable. Greens, bunks, fairways, and tee boxes all destroyed. They do look like they are working on it so that is a positive but then they shouldn’t charge full price. Hopefully it is better next year.
What happened to the greens?!
The golf course was absolutely trashed. They had begun construction recently and had dug up at least some portion of almost every fairway. The greens were in absolutely horrendous conditions and the tee boxes looked like someone used them for grenade practice. Had I not been playing with several other people I would’ve turned around after the first hole and demanded a refund. They were charging weekend rates for Labor Day and the course was a construction site.
Not What It Used To Be
Always liked Royal American, but it is in terrible shape. Everywhere. Tees, fairways, greens, bunkers - awful. It pains me to say it, but save your money.
Disappointing
I played this track with a couple buddies on Labor Day weekend. This course looked like a real gem upon arrival. Nice big clubhouse and the course looked nice from afar. However, the course conditions were awful. While you can tell the other New Era courses see a good bit of action, at least many of those are maintained. They have totally let this course go. Dead spots in the fairways and on the greens. The tee boxes were chewed up on many of the holes. Bunkers were ridiculous, filled with mounds of dirt, don’t even try hitting out of them. Overall, the conditions made this a really poor experience considering greens fees were 58 dollars. A real shame too because this course has a solid layout with some potential. Would not recommend this course in its current state, and won’t be back.
Tee boxes burnt out...fairways hit or miss...some greens were cracked mud essentially in spots...you would think for the horrible shape it was in they would charge less. Add a brutally slow round of 5 hrs, I won’t go back there again.
Pace
Brutally slow pace of play. No marshals to enforce pace.
Very poor condition
Bunkers havent been touched. Many greens have large amoujts of bad areas. Fairways have lots of brown and dead areas. I understand it is late summer and weather plays a big impact, but it appears little is being done to keep up course. Many tee boxes have little to no grass. Grass is growing in all bunkers.
Horrific Condition
The fact they charge 50+ for this course in it's current condition is utterly ridiculous. The course is in awful shape.
Enjoyed our round!
The course layout is great! There is ample room between holes to avoid errant shots from impacting others. Course is mainly flat, but there are some elevations changes that add to the challenge. Overall nice course!
Nice course but slightly over priced
Played this course a few weeks back and must have gotten to it before much of the summer traffic. Still a great course but may be a little over priced now that it has the wear n tear. All in all, fun course for mid-level players
