About
Royal American Links Golf Club pays homage to the birthplace of golf, the seaside links of Scotland, an inspiration that is also reflected in the architecture of the clubhouse. The 18-hole course was created in the traditional link-style but with added features not typical of the classic design including water coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also large, deep bunkers protect the sloping greens, many of which are double-tiered. Royal American Links Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 12th. Its green is guarded by a not only a large rock wall but also water to the front and left. There is a large bunker to the left of the green that will swallow any errant shots but players with a sharp short game will be able to manage.

Beautiful greens. Fairway was nicely trimmed when I played. Fun layout. This is a course that you will likely use most of the clubs in your bag and not just Driver / 7 / PW. I’ll be back fo sho.

Good course - need better hole directions
I’ve always liked the course and will continue to go there. My only issue is with the cart path directions where the front and back meet. One of the signs is missing and the numbers painted on the asphalt path are warn down, so not easy to read if your not paying attention. I’ve played the course about 6 times in the last 3 years, so I’m used to it now. For a new player who is not used to the course or markings it is very easy to get out of sync.

Need more help
Layout greens and fairways all good. Staff is good but looks like they need some help. Tees looked like that hadn’t been moved in a week or two and nothing had been filled. Bunkers were in bad shape and didn’t look like they had been dragged or dressed in a while.
Good layout and really like the course but need to get tees in better shape and fill some divots. Not just par 3’s. All the tees need help.

Royal American
Was disappointed when I played Royal American. This course was always in great shape..They have let the bunkers go with lots of weeds and rocks and not a whole lot of sand. They’ve also taken out several bunkers throughout the course but have not filled them in with dirt and grass seed it’s just mud and weeds and rocks very sad to see if you’re going to take out the bunkers at least fill them up and put some grass seed down. The greens seem to have some type of disease or fungus on them as well. I guess you can say new era has let several of their courses go Bent Tree bunkers are in bad shape Clover Valley and New Albany. Especially charging $57 not worth the price .I might be done with new era courses for a while going to play elsewhere.

Not worth it
It was easy enough to schedule the round through GolfNow and check-in was a breeze. Course layout did not match up with GPS layout, which was really confusing and resulted in incorrect distance readings and posting scores to wrong holes. Fixable but frustrating.
Course had lots of bare spots on fairways and tees, lots of dandelion and other weeds, and rough around course was mowed in some areas but not in others. Pace of play was super slow and we ended up skipping a holes to get ahead of a clueless group who wouldn’t let us play through. No marshal or anyone to keep up pace. I won’t be back.

It’s Best Days Are Behind It
Do not waste your time, do not waste your money. $60 for 18 holes on a course that would be overcharging at $30!
Such a shame. What once was a beautiful, perfectly manicured course, that I loved to play, has fallen into absolute disrepair. Bunkers were basically planter boxes, completely washed out, hard as cement with weeds and grass growing throughout. Greens were pitted and patchy, so smooth putts were next to impossible.
The course design is so great, the hazard positions and the shape of the tiered greens show that the course has the potential to be great again, but it's a long way away. The great customer service and well stocked pro shop are big plus sides, but not enough to redeem the terrible course maintenance, no rangers, so course management is in the trash too.
I will not be returning, unless something drastic changes.

Quality course in NE Columbus!
Was pleasantly surprised by Royal American Links! Read some reviews that had me skeptical about the quality of the course, but was overall impressed.
Very well designed golf course. Requires good course management, but very fair! Lots of subtle elevation changes throughout the course. Course did suffer some damage over the winter, but nothing excessive. Looks like they are also fixing quite a few of the bunkers on the course too. There’s a rather large power line that does run across 2 or 3 of the holes, which could be frustrating if you hit one of the wires on a shot.
Will definitely be back!
