About
Royal American Links Golf Club pays homage to the birthplace of golf, the seaside links of Scotland, an inspiration that is also reflected in the architecture of the clubhouse. The 18-hole course was created in the traditional link-style but with added features not typical of the classic design including water coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also large, deep bunkers protect the sloping greens, many of which are double-tiered. Royal American Links Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 12th. Its green is guarded by a not only a large rock wall but also water to the front and left. There is a large bunker to the left of the green that will swallow any errant shots but players with a sharp short game will be able to manage.

Great layout but could use some work
They layout of the course itself was awesome for my play style and the staff was awesome. Course needs some drainage installed. Yes its the beginning of the season and i new it would be wet but it was flooded in alot of areas. Will definitely play here again once weather starts getting better

Staff is putting in a lot of work to improve the course and it shows. Course was in great condition for mid-March. Can't wait to come back and play again!

Worst condition I’ve ever seen a course in.
Royal looks like it’s been going downhill for a couple years now. Divots everywhere. No maintenance on the course. Tee boxes torn up. No rakes for bunkers and weeds in bunkers. Leaves branches and debris everywhere. Needs a complete renovation or new ownership. Only good thing about royal is the staff is super friendly and nice to talk to.

Course conditions
For the time of the year it is understandable, but the greens were extremely bumpy, didn’t seem like anyone fixed their divots ever. I would expect it to be better in the months to come.

Great value!
I’ve really enjoyed this course for several years and they’ve done a great job maintaining it. Some fungus or disease on a few of the green and some really soggy areas on a few spots. Overall this is a great course and will be in the rotation for sure.

Rough shape
I'm not sure if it's been the weather or somthing else l, but the course looked burnt out in alot of areas. From the greens to the fairways and even in tree he rough it looked pretty rough for what they normally charge. That being said I've played this course before and it didnt look like this and was looking forward to going again, but I doubt I got back this year.

Cool Layout
I liked the layout and it was challenging. The pace of play was atrocious, there was a ranger but he didn’t seem to try and keep people moving. The conditions for the most part were good with the exception of some of the tee areas and some of the ponds. Overall I liked it and would play there again.

Sad
I believe New Era Golf may be the downfall of Central Ohio golf courses. I will admit that I have only played 5 of 6 courses, and all but 1 of those courses has declined since they were absorbed by they’re company!
No sand in traps (NAL, RA)
Over priced ( All )
Declined course maintenance ( NAL, RA, BT, CV )
These were all once good courses that were kept well and very challenging. Now they are just shells of they’re former selves!
Unless you get a deal when playing any of these courses, pass it up and go elsewhere!
