Mentel Memorial Golf Course

About
Mentel Memorial Golf Course is one of seven municipal courses in the Columbus area. It underwent a major renovation in 2001 that gave it a new name, updated layout, and a new clubhouse. Although it is sometimes overshadowed by two of the city's more popular municipal courses, Champions and Raymond Memorial, it stands out for its meticulous maintenance. The fairways are well manicured and the rough is well defined. The gently undulating, easy-to-read greens also putt fast and true. There are three lakes that come into play on six holes and more than 40 strategically placed bunkers. Trees are present throughout the golf course, but they sometimes work in your favor by helping to block the constant winds. The sixth is one of the most notable holes at Mentel Memorial, demanding a lengthy drive over a hill.

Great pace of play & great course
Pace of play was very good. Finished my round of 18 holes in 3 hours playing alone. I would definitely recommend this course if you haven’t played it previously. The course is in great shape and the bunkers are well manicured. Definitely a course I’ll visit again the next time I’m in town.
18 Sunday tournament flagsticks
The round was very slow on a beautiful day. I saw a five some three groups in front of us. Bad party foul on a packed slow day. The worst offense was the poor choice of pin placements. I’ve played here many times and have never seen about 14 of them. The fellow who chose them should be reprimanded and then taught something about his job. On Easter Sunday with a packed house. Bad news.
Guy at the register was lazy and was mad we wanted to play.
Well I paid for a cart, then I got there and they said no carts today and wouldn’t discount my money. So I walked. Then on the way to the back 9 the guy wouldn’t sell us a drink cause they were only taking cash. It seemed he was mad we played cause it wasn’t perfect weather. Also Seemed like he didn’t want to get up from his seat cause he was eating.
The whole experience dealing with this guy was a head ache and you could tell they were unhappy that we wanted to play on a chilly day. Won’t go back anytime soon
Nice course
Good tee boxes
Good fairways
Good greens
Can’t comment on other parts of the course as these are the only areas I saw
First Round of the Season
It was nice to finally get out on the course after a long winter. The course was in great shape for this time of year. The staff is very friendly and kept the groups moving at the tee. We got a good rate and was very satisfied.
Didn’t accept golf now price
The course was as expected for early spring, however I reserved through Golfnow app... well they didn’t honor that price on the app! My 32$ round ended up being 48$, and that was after I paid the 4$ booking fee online. Pretty crappy
Mentel/City course
no cart—no problem
a cart fee was collected at reservation time
no mention of credit on that
in lieu of cart a pull cart is usually offered—no LUCK
Another Nice City Course
The city of Columbus does a great job keeping their courses looking good. Wonderful fast greens at Mentel it might be my favorite city course however it was so crowded I didn’t finish my round today and it seems they do not space out the tee times far enough
October Golf
Good to be playing a sunny golf day in Ohio. Greens were fast & tough. Excellent condition. Looking forward to some more rounds in October.
Young to old
I use to come to this course with my father and grandfather to watch them play and ride in the cart. This was all before the trailer brunt down and the rebuild. Coming back and actually playing in my 30s is fun and really enjoyed my time. The course is very good and I enjoyed to see it’s still a well maintained course. I would gladly come back again.
Notorious BIG D
Great time and course is in good shape , greens are starting to show some wear from season of heat. All and all good course.
