Split Rock Golf Club

About
Split Rock Golf Club was carved from the rolling countryside of northern Pickaway County. Its picturesque design is perfectly in sync with the natural surroundings. Designed by the local design team of Michael Hurzdan and Dana Fry, the golf course actually required little manipulation since much of the challenge comes from the natural features of the undulating terrain. The layout has slightly different nines that offer a diversity that appeals to a range of skill levels. The front nine is more open and forgiving while the back nine has tighter fairways that are lined with trees. Water is not a prominent presence at Split Rock Golf Club but it does come into play. In addition to the golf course, golfers are welcome to use the driving range and putting greens before teeing off.

Nice layout, but course is in rough condition
This course has great potential with the layout, but is in bad condition. Several of the greens have more brown spots than green. Crabgrass on the fringe is unacceptable. Staff was friendly and with a little love, the course could be really good.
Not worth the drive
I was looking for a course with good reviews and decent value for myself and my boys for their birthdays. The course was terrible. Tee boxes were hard as concrete. Half the greens were just dirt and so hard my ball would roll off the green after barely tapping it. I will never play this course again.
Good Value
I had low expectations based on recent website reviews but I had already booked. I really enjoyed the course layout. Fairways were in very good shape. Tee boxes had a lot of goose grass and they had lost a few greens. Most greens were decent and rolled true. For the price (hot deal), it was a great value. A bit slow on the front but moved well on the back. Very relaxed management. Played mid-week. Will definitely play again! Course was very fair and enjoyable.
Green and tee boxes were a mess
The first few holes were ok, but once we got to hole 4 the greens looked like they were from a course that closed 5 years ago and you happen to be playing on. The tee boxes were unlike anything I’ve seen.
Course was not bad. Long holes will test your driver.
They need to knock about $20 off a round. I liked that they had buckets of 25 balls for $5
Cost to play was on par with course conditions. Greens are not in very good shape. The ranger must be miserable at home because he’s grumpy. Got yelled at to pick up the pace when we were a foursome 7 minutes off pace at hole 9. If you’re good enough to par every hole to keep up with their “pace of play” , you would want to be playing a much nicer course.
It's fine
Decent course, price is right. I'm not sure why they have a starter. I would much rather them put the starter on the greens keeper team and have him help improve the course vs. Just drive around and do nothing. Seems like a waste of money when the course really needs better upkeep.
Challenging Course
Although this course is not long, it does have some challenging holes. Overall we had a great round and enjoyed the golf. Greens needed a little work but were still playable.
Don't waste time or money
The greens were torn up. The bunkers had standing water (some recent storms - which I would ignore) & lots of vegetation growth (total lack of attention). Marshall came by to tell us to pick up pace of play (we had at least one 3-some with older couple playing ahead of us). We did have 2 beginners in our group (we played best ball to keep it fun and quick). Our 4-some did stop at the turn, other groups did not. We ended the round 6 minutes behind pace according to the GPS on the cart. Their GPS geo-boundaries would go off about 10 feet from the various markers. We had 2 other 4-somes that finished about 25 and 40 minutes after we did. I've played Columbus Municipal courses that are far better maintained.
Fun, Open Course
Split Rock is a fun, open course that is very playable. The course is fair and has some fun hole layouts, but the bunkers are in need of repair. I would definitely play again.
