Lakeside Golf Course
About
Originally a nine-hole course when opening in 1966, Lakeside Golf Course expanded to 18 holes in 1993. The course, located close to downtown Salt Lake City, boasts views of the Wasatch Mountains. It is suitable for players of all abilities. The course was built on relatively flat terrain that features plenty of water. Half of the holes have water hazards coming into play. Lakeside Golf Course makes accuracy a priority rather than distance with several out of bounds areas and holes that are short and tight. The facility also has a practice range as well as putting and chipping areas for golfers to use.

Great experience every round
I can’t express how friendly and attentive the staff is at Lakeside Golf Course every time I play there; they all want your experience to be a great one and welcome players of all levels, including kids; this is a great course to play; it is a personal favorite!
Great course and staff; very busy, slow local crowd
This is a very fun course with an excellent staff who make the experience enjoyable; the issue is that the local crowd which is an older crowd are quite slow and not interested in allowing faster groups from playing through; luckily they usually only play 8-holes, but that delays a regular round by at least an hour; I played six holes on the back nine in under 40 minutes; I was by myself but did not have time to complete the 18-hole round due to the front nine delay which took over 2 hours.
Friendly staff make for great golf round
I commented today with the younger golfer I joined up with in my round that the staff at Lakeside is the friendliest staff in the local area who make every round very enjoyable; this staff is golfer-friendly and cares for their clientele of all ages; they make you feel welcome when you check in the clubhouse.
Probably wouldn’t pay full price
Overall it was a good day of golf w/ a few exceptions. Course seemed a little off for me. I can’t quite put my finger on why though. There was a lot of unexpected water areas and the greens seemed really small. Maybe I’m just used to different types of course layouts. Course conditions were good although the grass just off the fairway is very thick and can be a chore to hit out of. It was busy and we definitely saw some people waiting even though we never did. Like I said, all in all it was a good day and a decent course. Not my fave but we got a screaming deal at $15 each so I’m certainly not complaining. At that price I may try it again, but I probably would pay full price for it given other options.
Greens in excellent condition
The course was in great shape for this time of year. Greens read true. Clubhouse staff cordial and accommodating. Cafe has great pulled por sandwich. Great vale all around.
Another wonderful experience
Lakeside is a great course for a pleasant, quick round, however, today I got caught up behind several senior lady groups which I bounced around after we had four groups waiting on hole #4; after that, it was interrupted play that kept me moving smoothly to have about a 2.5 hour 18-hole round. The staff is extremely friendly, and the cafe has a great meal combo at the turn. I enjoy playing Lakeside GC when I want a good, quick round.
Very good experience
Lakeside is a course I play regularly because the staff is friendly, the course provides a range of challenge for all golfers, and it is often in very good condition; it is a popular course with local golfers (youth through senior) so the pace of play can be slow at times, but the course requires strategic play throughout the round.
Poor Greens
Greens are in terrible shape. Players do not repair ball Mark's. This time of year they should make it a point to let players know to bring mosquito repellent. The mosquitos were awful.
This course is a great course to practice on. If one stays in the fairway the scores should reflect that. The greens will get you if your not familiar with them. they are fast and the course has a few very small greens which will cost you if you miss them. All in all you will can walk away after a round here feeling really good about your round. Or you can walk away wondering how did I shoot that high? Fun time.
Better Back 9
I’m from CT and do not come to Salt Lake City. I’m a recreational golfer so will play at any course. The back 9 there was in much better conditions and more challenging than the front 9. With golfnow’a Price of 16 bucks, this course if definitely worth the money compared to courses out east! Was fun day of playing in such nice dry weather that time of the year!
Okay course
Generally, the course was okay. However, the entire course was very flat and the greens are very small making them hard to hit and hold. Also, crossing the road (twice) to play the back 9 seemed a bit less than safe as well as side by side fairways makes balls flying at you from the opposite fairway a distinct possibility.
Lakeside golf course
Lakeside golf course, Great mature course. Price reasonable and conditions were good. I give you like the snack bar sandwiches are excellent. I played this course Before a tournament. Greens run fast and are like velvet. The course does have some difficulty if your shorts are a little wayward.
