The Grizzly Golf & Social Lodge - Grizzly Course
About
The Grizzly Course is a collaboration between Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead. Since opening in 1972, this challenging layout has been host to numerous PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA events. The golf course features long, curvy fairways lined with towering trees and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. The three final holes feature water hazards, which are also accompanied by a difficult array of bunkers. It offers a fair amount of difficult holes but overall the course is playable for a range of skill levels, which is why it is an appealing layout for tournaments. In addition to the two courses, the Golf Center also boasts an 11,000-square foot putting green and an Academy Course with four championship holes.
Also known as The City of Mason Golf Center - Grizzly Course.

stacked up on fairway! #Grizzly Photo submitted by todski26 on 11/12/2012
Good Day of Golf
We were fortunate enough to be the first group off for the day. It was just myself and a buddy and we flew through the round. Service was great and I was impressed that they had a worker driving around with fresh water, free of charge. It's the little things that make for an enjoyable round. Course played well and the greens are in great shape. No complaints here!
My "home" course
I play here a lot. All of my good scores have come here.
This course is a challenge
This course plays some what difficult. Lots of opportunity for low scores but also alot of trouble if you go left or right.
Fantastic Value
I was skeptical when I saw the discounted price on GolfNow. I used to play the Grizzly a lot and it was always a great course, I saw the low price and thought that maybe they had let the conditions go. I was happy to show up and see it was still the same fantastic course it's always been.
Good layout...good condition, felt rushed
This was my first time on the course, it was in very good condition, and it was a very nice layout. There were some difficult holes with a fair amount of hazards. Likely could accomodate many level of players.
Some staff were great, others not quite as friendly as I am used to .
Overall I would recommend this course.
A true gem!
I don't get up to Cincinnati very often anymore but this course is one I always look forward to playing. Challenging for every level of golfer and exceptionally maintained!
Very fun, challenging course.
I had not played there in years, but the course was in great shape, the staff was very friendly, and I had a blast. It was about 90 degrees when we played and they had a staff member driving around with coolers of cold water for us. The course was very challenging for me and it really tested my game which was what I was looking for.
Good course for afternoon deal price
If you can get the afternoon golfnow rate, it's well worth playing...
Great course
Grizzly is still one of my favorite courses. It is in great shape, everyone is friendly and greens are fast. Play here if u can and you won't be disappointed.
Awesome course
Very fun course to play. Challenging yet still a bang for your buck. Thought course was in great shape even with all the rain recently. I will be back to try to conquer the grizzley.
weather really hurt the bunkers
The course was in good shape however the 2+ inches of rain left almost very bunker filled with water. Still a good course and worth playing even after that much rain
Always fun to play.
Good mid level golf experience. Golfnow lets me meet new players.
the course is a good value for the money
The course was in pretty good shape given the fact that it had rained the previous 7 days. we played from the blue tees and they are approx 6400 yards which is a really good distance for us. like most public courses, i wish golfers would repair their ball marks on the greens. the sand traps need serious improvements. when we went into the sand we didn't even bother trying to hit out of them. more hard dirt than sand. overall, a pretty good playing experience. staff is friendly (though they do have one starter who is incredibly grumpy. he needs to be re-assigned to the cart barn)
This course is beautiful and in great shape.
I highly recommend to players of moderate to high skill levels.
Be prepared for a lengthly round though usually takes longer than normal.
This course was challenging
I would have loved to play the Black tees. My length off the tee seemed to put me past a lot of the trouble. The Greens could use an afternoon watering as it seemed they were getting burnt during the round, and they were as hard as the cart path.
Good value for money
Anything under $50 with good greens and a fairly strong layout is worth the time. The original holes are still some of the best in the area...and, one of Jack's first designs.
Terrible tee time management
If you like slow play and waiting on every tee and fairway shot Kings Island Grizzly is for you. Granted we went on a weekend regardless no course should take 6 hours to play and you should not have to wait at the turn for 20 minutes to tee off. They book both the front and back 9 holes as starter holes. Never again will I play this course. Time management is beyond terrible.
Play overall was slow at best. We were behind a twosome and had to wait on nearly every teebox
I played with my son and a friend, we let a single join us on our round. We had probably a 10 min. wait on the first tee. The course was still pretty wet from the rains received a couple of days earlier. This however had nothing to do with play.
Overall, I found the course to be in comparable condition to most of the courses in the Cincinnati area. (long rough, standing water) Again the course can't control our weather.
I would like to return later this summer and see if the course plays a little shorter. (Maybe some roll)
