The Grizzly Golf & Social Lodge - Grizzly Course
About
The Grizzly Course is a collaboration between Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead. Since opening in 1972, this challenging layout has been host to numerous PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA events. The golf course features long, curvy fairways lined with towering trees and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. The three final holes feature water hazards, which are also accompanied by a difficult array of bunkers. It offers a fair amount of difficult holes but overall the course is playable for a range of skill levels, which is why it is an appealing layout for tournaments. In addition to the two courses, the Golf Center also boasts an 11,000-square foot putting green and an Academy Course with four championship holes.
Also known as The City of Mason Golf Center - Grizzly Course.

Golfer Reviews
Overall great shape.
Overall course was in great shape. Greens rolled smooth and very true. Tee boxes were a little hard, but that's pretty minor. Rough was cut a fair length. Only inconsistency was in the traps. Most traps were full of sand and were consistent, but I was in one trap that was like hitting of of concrete. Other than that it was a great day. Played this day 2 days in a row and played in 4 hours on the dot both days. Ranger was nice enough to bring around water as there was not a cart girl or water coolers on the course.
Great course - a little pricey
Had not played this course in over 5 years and its how I remembered it. I really enjoy this course. Challenging, good length, and a lot of fun. Only problem is that it's a bit pricey... I missed out on a cheaper time. Definitely will play again.
rough was high- and pace of play was painful
Beautiful day - but there's no good reason for a round to take over 5 hours. The rangers were seen once on the first nine (second hole) an a couple times on the back nine, but it didn't seem to make a difference. They acknowledged the slow play and apoligized.
The course needs to cut the rough down.
There weren't any marshals on the course and pace of play was dredfully slow. It was a very slow round, something I wouldn't want to experience again.
Fair Course
Course play was slow. Course officials should have maintained pace. Greens were to hard, should have been watered. Fairways were just ok, could have been maintained better for spring.
Pace too slow
We played this on a Friday afternoon going into Memorial Day weekend. The course was in great shape and is always a favorite for our group to play. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There were several groups in front of us and play was moving at an extremely slow pace. We were backed up three groups on some of the tees. We saw many people playing from tees that were clearly too long for them. Not sure this is the fault of the course but more than 5 hours for a round that normally takes just under 4 is a bit long. All that said, it was a great day of golf and we will definitely be back.
Interesting and well maintained course
Our threesome played without waiting. While pristine is not the word I would use, the greens, tees, fairways and traps were all well maintained. One of my favorite places to play in Cincinnati for a very reasonable golfnow price. Be sure to use a cart.
Can't beat the price
$30 to play the Grizzly on a Sunday is a steal, no doubt about it.
The course is in great shape as well.
The only downside was the high volume of groups. We waited on every shot, leading to a 5 hour round.
We enjoyed the course
Good course and well maintained. Booked through Golfnow.com & had a slight issue getting the pro shop to honor our price of $30. Several out of our 8 players were charged $40 & I had to go into the pro shop and have it adjusted and the guy still was giving me a hard time even after I showed him the rate in my phone. Eventually we all got our money back. Other than that no issues.
Nice track with good greens
Nicholas course, so it is fair and interesting. Greens rolled true and moderately quick. Houses surround many holes but are far enough back that they do not ruin the experience. Worth a try if you have not played it before.
Course in decent shape, Dreadful pace of play.
Well over 5 1/2 hours to play. nothing done by rangers. Too many two-somes out there, staff should have paired them all up. If it's that slow it's not worth the money.
nice course, good value
The course was in good condition; with slightly heavy rough. The pace of play was slow, but not unusually slow for a weekend. The price offered by Golf Now was more than the regular price for this time of year, so I wasted $7.96 in booking fees. Fortunately, the course only charges its regular price instead of the higher price in the listing.
Wow!!!!
For early in the year, course is in superb condition!!!! Great amenities and super friendly staff!!! Great Value!!
FOR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR, THE COURSE WAS ALREADY IN PRIME CONDITION. FAIRWAYS/GREENS WERE CUT AND GREENS WERE FAST AND TRUE AS USUAL.
i'VE PLAYED THIS COURSE FOR OVER 20 YRS. AND A FEW YEARS BACK IT WASN'T BEING MAINTAINED AS WELL AS IT WAS IN PREVIOUS YEARS. HOWEVER, LAST YEAR AND THIS YEAR IT'S BACK TO EXCELLENT FAIRWAYS AND GREENS. COURSE IS VERY CHALLENGING WITH ALL THE SAND TRAPS IN THE FAIRWAYS AND AROUND THE GREENS, PLUS THE WATER HOLES, WHERE THE WATER IS VERY CLEAN AND ODORLESS.
Wacky Setup...
I don't like the 2 nine hole setup. Got confused several times as the holes are sometimes far from each other. But, on the up side... signage is very good.
Very good condition
The Grizzly course is in very good condition. The fairways were well maintained. The traps had good soft sand. The layout is challenging with some length. However, the greens had just been aerated and sandy, so not true and bumpy. They will be in nice repair within a couple of weeks. The price was outstanding. Great value.
Nice long course, from the back tees
early in the seasons, greens are rough, fairways in fair shape. For the price will take it everyday. Thanks Golf Now for the great deal.
Not what it used to be...
The Grizzly used to be one of the premier public courses in Cincinnati. Now, it is in terrible shape, the layout is dumb, and the greens are terrible. However, people still flock to the course because of its reputation, and the rounds are SLOW!!! When we played, it took us over 4 and half hours to play 14 holes. There were no rangers and no where to go. So we quit. There is no reason that golf should be that slow. They charged us a lot of money and I didn't even get to finish the round because of the pace of play. Furthermore, there are a many way better courses in Cincinnati. I will not be back to The Grizzly unless they make some major changes.
