decent
Not a bad course for the price. The only yardage markings are 100, 150, and 200 yards out. Gas carts that needed to have 4wd to get around on some of the cart paths.
The positives I took away was the greens and fairways were in great shape. Not backed up for a Sunday afternoon.
Rough Ride in Shenandoah Valley
It was a great bargain for $10 on Saturday thanks to GolfNow. The course was good. Though the fairway was sometimes undistinguishable from the rough, the greens were generally well-maintained. The entire course was quite scenic. The cart path was not paved and very bampy, tough. I mostly drove on the rough. The pace was good up until 10th, where I was stuck with extraordinarily slow foursome. I passed through them in the 13th hole. I am glad that I spent $10 for this new experience even if I had to drive 70 miles to this course from my home.
Third Time a Charm
This was our third time playing this course and most enjoyable. The staff was great. A gentleman named Bill was very friendly and chatted with us. It was a busy day on the course and a small backup which slowed plat . Another gentleman asked if we minded another guy joining our group. Although we prefer to play as a twosome, this gentleman was good and I got a couple golf tips that paid dividends immediately. Overall great course and kinda hard to lose many balls while playing. Give it a try.
Tight but fair
Nicely maintained course in the rolling hills of western Virginia. Helps to be precise on this course; fairways are pretty tight, with ample rough if your shots are off-line. Unless you drive it really straight, opt for 3-wood or less on most of the tees.
Fair Price
Carts are older but grounds are in decent shape, greens were faster than expected. Water on two holes, rough thick but playable. At $19 worth the time and money, will play again.
All was great except grass clippings
We played on Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend. Sunday we lost numerous balls in the dead grass clippings that were in the rough(it looked similar to a hay field). Monday was much better because the grass was cut that morning. Very friendly staff and nice course. Will definitely play again. BTW the weather was beautiful.
Deceptively Challenging
easy two holes and thought we would ace this course but it does get difficult. The Tee boxes could use a little TLC, but for the money its an excellent value. highly recommended course.
sloppy course. greens ok.
Course holds lots of water after rain, so think twice about playing within 3 days of prior rain. Cart path is worst mess in the area bar none...4wd needed seemingly. Fairways were average condition and rough was really rough, thick and hard to wedge out of. Facilities and food are average at best...not very pretty to look at. Overall you get what you pay for...especially in this area
Great Value
Nice course fairways and greens were in good shape. Bunkers not to good due to heavy rain.
Nothing special
I dare to say this course has no special feature. The clubhouse is old and golf cart is old. Though, course is well maintained, and having old fashioned style layout. The elder guys enjoyed the game from senior tee, the pace was not bad.
Great deal
We had a later tee-time so got only 15 holes in. The course was very well maintained. The green are cut very short and tend to be very fast. The day was beautiful with a blustery wind blowing - even with the heavy winds the round of golf was fun... yet challenging. The value for the buck is great. I will definitely return for more rounds of golf at this course. Awesome views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Front Royal are a major plus to the scenic value as well.
Barney
Great time and the weather was good. Hot dogs were very nice:)
Good Value
This course is a good value for the average golfer. Fair, but not too tough. I always walk off knowing I left some shots out there :-)
Nice place to play
Good and friendly staff, clean the course is well maintained course.
Course was in good shape
Not the most challenging course around but it was in good shape.
This course is Not to long but the greens were quick
Played from the white tees, a little over 6000 yards. The course is very fair. It all lays out in front of you, with almost no blind shots. I found the greens to be quick but may be I am use too play Fairfax co courses. The staff was great, friendly and helpful. If you have the time for an hour drive it is worth the trip especially with the great price.
Good deal
Course was in fair shape. Only complaint was the gentlemen in the shop is very slow.
The course is a great deal for the money.
I was able to get a great deal on Golfnow.com, $15 per person. Well worth it, the course was in the best shape I have seen it in the last few years. Greens were little fast but overall nice shape. The pace was a little slow since the course was crowded but beautiful day to play.
Good for the price
This course was a bit more challenging over the south course, a little longer and not quite as forgiving. Very nice change of scenery and well kept. It serves as a good challenge for people newer to the game like myself. Only complaint is the lack of a 4th par 5 hole.
