Golfer Reviews
Nice little track
My wife and I played a round on the North course yesterday on our way back from a little vacation in the area. Course was in decent shape. Lots of crabgrass though and the bunkers were not well maintained at all. Layout was nice and the greens rolled fairly well. The worst part of the round for us was the BUGS!! Bring the bug spray!!!
Fair at best
We were trying to save a buck this weekend and wanted to make a little drive. There are some nice courses around Front Royal, but this one is just OK. The course was in fair condition, with the Tee boxes hard as a rock. Need a cordless drill or hammer to get a tee in the ground. The mowing was fair at best with uneven cutting in the fairways and even some of the greens. We paid about $25 each for the round, which was about $10 high in my estimation.
Worth a trip
Manage expectations. This is not a plush modern design but you will find fresh air, a decent but short golf course and some friendly people. Tees were rock hard. I suspect conditions will worsen with extended hot/dry weather.
Great value with a challenge
This course is not long but has plenty of challenge with water, hills, and tight fairways. Greens are in good shape. There was a lot of water on the course due to multiple days of rain. Great value and a good challenge. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Round was quick (3 hours for 2).
Price was good
Golf shop clerk was so kindness and he has open mind.
I really enjoyed with good feeling.
decent
Not a bad course for the price. The only yardage markings are 100, 150, and 200 yards out. Gas carts that needed to have 4wd to get around on some of the cart paths.
The positives I took away was the greens and fairways were in great shape. Not backed up for a Sunday afternoon.
Rough Ride in Shenandoah Valley
It was a great bargain for $10 on Saturday thanks to GolfNow. The course was good. Though the fairway was sometimes undistinguishable from the rough, the greens were generally well-maintained. The entire course was quite scenic. The cart path was not paved and very bampy, tough. I mostly drove on the rough. The pace was good up until 10th, where I was stuck with extraordinarily slow foursome. I passed through them in the 13th hole. I am glad that I spent $10 for this new experience even if I had to drive 70 miles to this course from my home.
Third Time a Charm
This was our third time playing this course and most enjoyable. The staff was great. A gentleman named Bill was very friendly and chatted with us. It was a busy day on the course and a small backup which slowed plat . Another gentleman asked if we minded another guy joining our group. Although we prefer to play as a twosome, this gentleman was good and I got a couple golf tips that paid dividends immediately. Overall great course and kinda hard to lose many balls while playing. Give it a try.
Tight but fair
Nicely maintained course in the rolling hills of western Virginia. Helps to be precise on this course; fairways are pretty tight, with ample rough if your shots are off-line. Unless you drive it really straight, opt for 3-wood or less on most of the tees.
Fair Price
Carts are older but grounds are in decent shape, greens were faster than expected. Water on two holes, rough thick but playable. At $19 worth the time and money, will play again.
All was great except grass clippings
We played on Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend. Sunday we lost numerous balls in the dead grass clippings that were in the rough(it looked similar to a hay field). Monday was much better because the grass was cut that morning. Very friendly staff and nice course. Will definitely play again. BTW the weather was beautiful.
Deceptively Challenging
easy two holes and thought we would ace this course but it does get difficult. The Tee boxes could use a little TLC, but for the money its an excellent value. highly recommended course.
sloppy course. greens ok.
Course holds lots of water after rain, so think twice about playing within 3 days of prior rain. Cart path is worst mess in the area bar none...4wd needed seemingly. Fairways were average condition and rough was really rough, thick and hard to wedge out of. Facilities and food are average at best...not very pretty to look at. Overall you get what you pay for...especially in this area
Great Value
Nice course fairways and greens were in good shape. Bunkers not to good due to heavy rain.
