Tucked amidst the waterfalls, peaks, forests and canyons of the Columbia River Gorge lies a rustic mountain resort called Skamania Lodge. The Lodge offers a challenging golf experience you will not soon forget! This 9-hole par three course winds through the forest and around ponds, with peace, quiet and perhaps some curious wildlife many times your only company. The course is designed for walking with a very few carts available for ADA purposes, which must be reserved in advance by calling the Golf Shop. Located about an hour east of Portland, cross the Bridge of the Gods in Cascade Locks and follow the signs.

Bring some extra balls.....

because if you're not hitting it straight here, you'll lose a bunch. Tough, tight, and hilly....soft and muddy in winter...super friendly staff. The $30.00 with cart deal on golfnow is great.....retail is waaay overpriced however.

Beautiful scenic tight course and get-away!

We play Skamania each summer while residing in the great PacNorWest June thru October. It has NEVER disappointed! Breathtaking, superior condition and laid back. The hour drive up The Gorge certainly sets TheMood!!

Beautiful scenery, spectacular views on many holes

Couse had been recently aeriated so there was a little extra sand on some of the fairways and greens but overall in great condition. Challenging because of the narrow fairways and unforgiving rough, but a fair course if you keep your ball in play. The course is located in a beautiful section of the Columbia river Gorge and has several holes with breath-taking views.

A Special Place

Skamania Lodge in the Columbia River Gorge has an ambiance all its own. With selective views of the Columbia River peeking out between tall firs on several holes, it is a walk in peace and serenity through old growth firs, vine maples and a variety of bushes that line each fairway. There are a couple of lakes that really do not come into play but yet add to the visual impact of this place. It is a retreat from the world and while playing it is rare that you have the sensation of being surrounded by other players. The fairways are placed as such that you enjoy the hole you are currently playing. This course is difficult in that to play well, you must be on the fairways and approaches. If your ball is hit off the extremeties of the fairway, you will most likely lose it because this course is created out of old lava flows left intact with dropoffs on virtually each hole. This course asks for accuracy not especially distance, because the holes are not that long in comparison to many other courses. Several blind shot will add to the suspense of play. Wildlife can be seen when playing. If you are anywhere near this course and do not stop, you will have missed a chance to experience one of the most beautiful places on earth - it is well worth the time.

If you slice your drives, take lots of balls!

Beautiful scenery, interesting layout, usually not crowded.
A great value on golfnow. Greens and fairways are usually in excellent shape. Can get muddy in the rainy season. Most of the rough is woods, making errant ball finding difficult. If you are hitting the fairways, this course is a delight. If you hook or slice into the woods, good luck finding it.

It's a Should play

Have played Skamania Lodge many times and always enjoy the challenge, and beauty of the mountain and River/Gorge views. Although it is normally open year round, summer months are the most enjoyable as you can drive on most fairways. If you keep it in the fairways, it can produce nice scores. Outside the fairways almost always results in a penalty drop. A fun experience.

very fun course to play!

Narrow fairways make this course difficult to play unless you have accurate drives. Hard course to walk, alot of elevation changes.
