North Shore Golf Club
About
North Shore Golf Course in northeastern Tacoma has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1956. It has built its reputation on the quality of the greens and fairways. The classic layout provides enough of a challenge for experienced golfers without being too intimidating for beginners. The layout will test your short-game skills with undulating greens that roll fast and true. Bunkers are also carefully placed around the greens and there are trees lining the narrow fairways. Accuracy is essential for a low score but it will also take some quick and strategic thinking since the setup on each hole presents a different challenge. North Shore is a tough, but fair course for players of all skill levels. There is also an all-grass driving range and practice facility available.

nice location
Great lots of character and condition. This review is too complicated And time consuming. I said it was Great what more can I say!!!!"
Nothing beats this value
All public courses of this caliber is around 30 dollars to play sometimes more (Renton and 30 miles radius). 6300 Yards from the tips is a decent distance for a course like this and I did find it challenging. Greens were a little bumpy but no major complaints and for 20 bucks I didn't have expectations like i would at a Private Club. Overall a great time and going back in a few days!
good course
Played in 4 hrs as a foursome on a saturday morning. Course was in good shape, greens were a little damaged but rolled fine. Good golf for this 10 hcp.
Good Course to Checkout
If you live in the area you should definetly go play this course, it was moderate challenging and pretty well taken care of. You can tell it's an older course and place, but it's work checking out. The only reason I may not return is because I don't live close. Go out and give it a go, there are some tough shots because it's pretty narrow. Good luck!
DODGE Q
COUESE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE. PACE OF PLAY WAS VERY SLOW. NEED MARSHALS TO MANAGE THE PACE
all the greens were beat up
ive played lots of courses but ive never seen one with the greens as beat up as this one, noone fixed the divots. at one green i repaired 15 divots then just gave up and fixed my own from then on. feels like maybe they should shut this course down and use the land for new homes because the location would be great for some new condos!
Play was extremely slow, Party 2 in front of us was 3 holes behind after 12
Course was ok, They had the t's set up really short. They hadn't indicated that the greens had been plugged probably a week earlier and not enough sand to fill holes. Play was extremely slow and no out to keep the parties up to speed
its ok
This was the second time I've played this course. The conditions were OK. Nothing spectacular but very playable. The greens had recently been punched and sanded, as is the case with a lot of courses this time of year. We played reasonably early (7:52 am on a Sunday) and weren't pushed from behind nor were we held up by anyone in front of us. By the time we got to the turn the first tee was stacked up with players. I don't think I would want to start play any later than we did or we would be dragging and having a 5 hour round.
A sunny day at Northshore
All the greens were temps, and the temps were fairly well terrible. That said, the course was on good shape otherwise.
Beautiful
Was difficult for older players especially women. Had a great time except for the foursome behind us hitting into us. Not even yelling fore. Luckily we didn't, get hit. No Marshall. Would try again.
North Shore review
I had played this course about 9 years ago & I had forgotten how tough it could be. lots of bunkers & water hazards. Still a fun day out with a buddy. I would play this course again.
Good course
The course was good, a lot of water which made it challenging, but the Marshall on the course was not so friendly. We were told that we were playing slow when there was only two people behind us. While trying to play he kept driving by us to check on us an slowing us down. That was the problem. Other than that the guy in the pro shop was very friendly and personal. Good place to play overall.
Nice course
Overall the course is pleasant to play. Tree lined fairways make it more enjoyable, but not unfair. Par 3 greens offer some challenging pin placements.
What was most surprising was the speed of all of the greens, played like a dry summer day.
A Nice Course
A very nice course to play, the pace of play was a little slow that day but the weather turned out nice for us.
NICE COURSE. GREAT BARGAIN!
The staff is friendly.. food is great.. course is always in nice condition.. pace of play is good!
Great value
My overall view is course is challenging, if you get a cart, path only in fall, winter so I was chasing the cart just as much as the ball so I I recommend just walking the course or take someone that doesn't play that can drive you around
A few very challenging holes
We played as a twosome at 11:00 and were behind two walking foursomes that had no groups in front of them. They did not offer to let us play through on the front side so we had to skip a hole and go around them.
I noticed later on my receipt that we were charged tax on our fees which should have bee tax included.
There were may positives, one being the dry condition of the course in November. The greens were in good shape and the course played quite fast for this time of the year.
Enjoyed the day and will probably return.
Good course that requires a little course knowledge.
I was in a bad mood when I first got to the course. I also misunderstood my Golf Now responsibilities when it came to the bill. The staff hung in there with me and was very cordial even though I was not. Turns out, they were correct and I was wrong. The course had a few bumps because of punching the greens - nothing terrible. The course appeared to drain pretty well - a must in the NW. I don't like to play a course that is real easy and I won't play a course that is unfairly hard. NS is challenging but fair.
I'll be back.
Great course
Course was a little soggy, but that's to be expected this time of year. The greens were great, & besides side stepping the Goose droppings by the water everything was great . A fantastic day & all the other golfers out there were very friendly, & curtious.
Thx Northshore.
Great course for all levels
The couse has been in great shape all year, Friday when played the geens had been just sanded, other wise course condition question would have been pristine. This is one of my favorite courses in the northwest.
