Sunday
I have played here before and will again. When I checked in, the guy who took my money said, in the same breath, pace of play is 4.5 hours and they are 25 minutes behind schedule. So, I new from the start, pace of play would not be fast. after 5.25 hours and still with three holes to go, I gave up and left.
The course was in good shape
The course was in good shape. The pace of play was a little slow. No course marshal to help speed things up.
Good course, pretty short though
I had never been here before, but my partners suggested it, and I found a killer deal on GolfNow. SO we went. The course was pretty mucky in places, but it has been raining here. The day was sunny and a little cold, but not bad. I was surprised at the niceness of the clubhouse and the food was very, very good, after the round. Drinks at the turn were strong and we were 4 happy golfers. Casual dress keeps it low key and I would not hesitate to play here again, altho I looked at the summer rates and they want $29 (!!) for a power cart...that's nuts! And $37 for a round on the weekend is way too steep for this course. SO I guess I would not pay to play here in summer.
The day before the day.
Thank you to Rick and Mark for allowing me to join them for a beautiful day of golf. The game you hate to love.
Plays long in winter . . .
One has to remember that playing this course in the winter is going to be a challenge since it rests in low country and is very flat. Great little track all year and super facilities and staff but just be prepared for it to play long when wet and muddy. Am tired of reading comments about the winter conditions . . . it is wet and stays wet! But a great value to play in the winter and always fun when dry; but usually heavily played for good reasons such as location, short, good greens, conditions, and facilities. Feel-good course.
Nice flat course
I really enjoyed playing Foster. It is flat and is a great walking course. several of the holes bring water into play to make it a challenge. It is well cared for and had pretty good drainage. All in all, a good value and fun time
Great links course
Great layout and beautiful greens! Too bad it was raining
Only playable when dry
This course is a lot of fun during the dryer seasons, but is absolutely awful in wetter times of year. For $19 with a cart, it's still worth just getting out to play, but it's a mud pit right now, a few of the greens hold standing water, much of the ground just falls apart under the ball so you lose 20-30 yards a shot much of the time. Some of my best rounds have come here, but I can't imagine paying to play it during the winter unless there is a stretch of dryer weather. Greens are in rough shape, lots of repair right now, in preparation for the spring in sure, but again you can find deals to play this course that make it worth a day out with some buddies. Food is really good too!
no mowing?
When arriving at the course, I knew that it would be a bit wet, however I was more than surprised to see that the grass wasn't mowed for some time and the leafs were not blown off the fairways. It was nearly impossible to find balls after teeing off as they were either buried in mud or under leaves.
Scenic Course Could Use a Haircut
Cool, beautifully sunny (and very windy) at Foster G.C. on Veteran's Day. The only negative was how long the grass was in so many locations. Balls were lost often, and a few other players I talked with said the same. Even when I checked in, the staff at the desk was apologetic about the unmowed conditions.
(This is the first review I've ever written, so I'm not some chronic complainer.)
Great staff
Friendly staff. Given 2 golf balls for free cause of muddy conditions. I think the price was a bit steep $30 walking for how muddy it was. Every hole someone was looking for their ball in the mud.
Perfect golf day!
I was a little upset about the lack of respect the group in front of us had for the grounds. Never fixed huge divots, slammed flag pin on the greens...
There was a lot of ground under repair.
So Pleasant
My partner and I were running about 20 minutes late and although we made a reservation on Golf.now, the course accomodated us and said it was not a problem that we were missing our original tee time. Great day!
Dump the stupid foot golf
Easy access from any direction.Number 3 green has some problems, two large bare patches. they over watered the course and there were some not muddy but too damp in the fairways.Greens were slower than normal but rolled true.Good pace, had to wait 5 minutes on a few holes. Used a lot of short irons.played midweek and the always friendly staff got me out early.Nice course for what it is.I have a problem with the foot golf thing It is a dumb idea and I won;t play there while it's going on.
Good to Practice Short Game
Fair!! Could use a little more love on fairways. Overall a decent place! Price is high $37 for a short course with poor conditions
CARTS
If you have to pay extra for a cart do not do it. Unless they upgrade it is not worth the money. My carts front wheel was about to fall off, and when I brought it back to the club house to switch, the cart guy tried to blame it on me. Not worth the headache when the course is easy enough to walk. If you do get a cart check it before you head out.
Keep your woods in the bag...
This is a decent course, the condition could be in better shape. A lot of soggy spots on the course, yet some greens are dried out. It is a short course, so good for iron play, no need to hit anything but irons. However for what you get, it should be a $25 course, especially compared to all the standard size courses. They are talking of upping the rates even more, poor decision! Don't bother with the food there. It has a nice patio for a cold beer, but the food is horrid. The pro shop boss has finally retired after 30 yrs or so, so hopefully things will change for the better.
Good place to play
Foster is a short narrow course with small greens I enjoy playing here. It is very convent if you work in south Seattle
Great for quick 9 holes
Have played Fosters several times. Pretty easy course to navigate and easy to walk. No hills to climb. Great to work on short to intermediate game. Overall, nice course with practice green and even practice bunker and short chip shots.
