Best golf value in Rock County
This is the course my dad would play often when he was younger. I really like this course because of its challenge and the uniqueness of the holes. The many water hazards (several added recently as part of a major renovation) and endless number of trees that border every fairway will keep you in check. The prices here cannot be beat. You can often play 18 with a cart on the weekend for under $25, sometimes as low as $12(!).
The drawback to this course is where it’s located. If you desire a quiet and relaxing setting for your round, this may not be the place for you. It’s rare that you don’t hear nearby engines revving and constant dogs barking from the surrounding neighborhood. The 10th hole shares a fence with a playground and sports complex, which can get quite noisy during games or when kids are playing basketball with their car stereos cranked up. The course also shares a parking lot with the municipal pool, so you might hear a lot of children playfully screaming. To put it as nicely as possible, the clientele here is sometimes questionable. You might see guys wearing wife-beaters on the course. Etiquette can be lost with a few golfers so you’ll see lots of unrepaired divots and unraked bunkers. I once almost got into a fight with someone because I accidentally picked up their ball. The pace of play can be slower, but a ranger does keep track and warns people if they're playing too slow.
Negatives aside, the challenge brings me back. The first 3 holes have you hitting over large water hazards. Hole 7 is a short par 4 with an extremely narrow fairway and large trees on each side just waiting to envelop your drive. Hole 13 has a creek winding through the fairway which you must cross twice. Hole 14 is the obligatory hit-over-a-pond par 3, and finally hole 18 has a pond to cross in the middle of the fairway. The par 36 front only sports one 3-par hole, while the par 34 back generously gives you three of them.
There is no driving range, however there is a brand new practice range where you can warm up by hitting into a net. The bar isn’t bad with an OK drink selection and a few food options. The staff is very friendly, but I don’t recall seeing a beverage cart the last few times I’ve played there on busy weekends.
Great time
Wonderful staff and great course!! Thanks for doing a great job!!
Great Experience
Computer at golf course had us scheduled for the appropriate time. Didn't even have to show the receipt from golfnow. Enjoyed the experience.
Amazing course for the price
The conditions on the course are always amazing, the staff is friendly and people almost always keep up pace of play, I have been playing here all my life and enjoyed every second of it
Needs
This course if always fun to play. Definitely need a ranger to encourage golfers to keep pace.
Kruger Haskell Golf Course
The Course is in great shape. Well worth the money. People were friendly. Pace of play was great.
All the par 3 have a distance of about 170 yards from the whites. May be these holes could vary the distance to the holes.
Club house is lacking the normal items you would find (shirts, clubs, etc).
Golf Etiquette
My friend and I played this course as a twosome. The front nine went good as far as pace of play goes for April in Wisconsin. After a quick stop in the club house at the turn, we caught up to a group of 5 golfers. From hole 11 on it was probably the slowest I've ever played. Every hole from then on we waited for this group of 5 loud intoxicated guys. At hole 18, we just picked up and threw in the towel. When I asked the attendant at the desk about a Ranger on the course, she said they do have one once the season is busier. I asked why there was a 5 some playing. All I got was, "did you ask to play through?" I kindly said, it's the Etiquette of a golfer to notice if they are holding up the pace of play. She replied, "if you had asked they probably would have let you play through". That group knew good and well that 5 were holding up 2. She could have not cared less what I was telling her. I have played there many times over the past 10 years, unfortunately I don't plan to return anytime soon.
Fun Course
Had a great time golfing at Krueger-Haskell. The course was in great shape!
Enjoyed the course
The greens are a tough read.. lots of breaks that are hard to see. We had a fun day at Krueger!
Old rustic timepiece
This course is the St Andrew's-Old Course of Beloit. Lol. Don't be confused it's not a links style course at all but it has a history that if these greens could talk you would be in awe. Like when I Eagled #6 477yd par 5. Great water drainage. 3-4 putt greens if you're not careful. If you draw the ball it will be paradise for you.
Great Course
I found the staff to be very helpful and polite. The course is well taken care of and have many scenic holes. I would compare this to Ledges in Roscoe, mature trees water and sand.
Great value
Course was in good condition, greens where great, played in three hours
Nice old course
This course is a nice course with a lot of old trees. The play was slow and the Rangers were not helping to speed up play. But overall very nice
Krueger-Haskel Golf Course
Course was in good condition. Speed of play was especially slow on back 9 as a two players were sent out ahead of us when we were coming around to the back. Hot deal was good price for this course.
