Cecelia's Golf Course

Love this course. Staff was very friendly, and the greens, fairways were in good condition. We were a twosome, so play was a little slow at times, but fellow golfers were friendly. Will definitely be back!

I learned how to play golf here over 25 years ago. It's a very decent beginners course and one of only less than a handful of 9-hole courses in the two-county area.

Nice because it has a driving range, wide fairways, and enough challenge to make a even a mid-handicap golfer enjoy it.

The big downside to the course is the amount of traffic it gets. They sell very cheap season passes, so don't expect a round under 3 hours on weekends. And since it is an ideal course for beginners, you will often find groups hacking away and spending WAY too much time looking for their balls.

I played on a gorgeous day in early October and only had one very slow 4-some (whom we skipped). The course conditions were surprisingly good (I remember in years past the place was like a cow pasture), and the greens were good despite being aerated only a few weeks ago.

It's really a decent place to learn to play, but I cannot recommend it for mid to low handicappers. Within just 10 miles you can find Blackhawk, which is a nicer 9-hole course, and Prairie Woods, which is a very nice (short) 18-hole course. Cecilia's isn't bad, but it doesn't hold up to those.
