Left stranded
The course was in pretty good shape and the pace of play was good. Had a serious issue with the staff and their lack of caring. Our cart died on the 17th hole. I called the pro shop to assist and was told they couldn’t help so my wife and I had to carry in. There is a reason I take a cart (back issues). When we arrived at the clubhouse there were three carts sitting empty. I walked into the pro shop and told him the cart was stranded on 17 and he didn’t acknowledge me. What a bunch of BS.
unimpressed
greens inconsistent from one part of the course to another, most were very slow, shaggy, unpredictable. doesn't everybody roll greens these days? apparently not. very few interesting holes, mostly tiny greens, shaggy hilly fairways lead to erratic results even in favorable situations. sand was coarse and packed. awkward golf.
All grasses from tee box to the greens needed to be mown.
Super friendly staff, Great bang for the buck
Played 18 holes while passing thru Merril, went above and beyond for us before tee time and cooked us a great lunch with awesome cheese curds, pace was excellent, course was in excellent shape. Thanks for the great hospitality ! We’ll be back!
Could be really good
The course has a good traditional old country club feel. The views are very nice. Rolling hills and in a nice rural setting. The course carries the skeletons of the grounds crew. The grass clippings in the rough are obvious, there are several stumps that could be removed or cut closer to the ground.
18 holes and each of them are nicely laid out. No goofy or un-needed gimmicks The terrain is rolling on all par 4 and 5’s. Large greens but, they are slow!! They do roll true.
The waits on tee boxes did grow old. I played on a Thursday morning and I had to wait on each box after the first hole.
The value is excellent and course is worth a visit.
