Have been playing Hawthorne Hills for over 45 years
The course is in great shape. We played on May 31 on one of the first nice golf days of the year. It was crowded, but the pace of play was very good. I have always been treated very well by the friendly staff. The course is playing a bit easier as many trees have been lost to disease, but the changes in terrain continue to be a hallmark of the course.
Great public course
Beautiful country setting for a course that is fun, interesting, and yet challenging. Greens are fast and true with a few that are almost unfair. ( too much slop) With all the rain this spring, the course was still very playable. One of the best public course I’ve played. Also very reasonably priced.
46 years of golf
I still have my Ozaukee County golf ID Card from 1973. It is no longer valid, but it is fun to remember having hair and it was not white. I do enjoy Hawthorne Hills. The first hole is a lovely sight. It always reminds me of the many times that I have played there. It is well maintained and I have always found the staff to be friendly and accommodating.
Very Slow
Too many people on course on every hole. Nice course just very slow play.
Class etiquette
Marshall needed in the afternoon, very slow play due golfers without etiquette playing more than 1 ball and too slow. Drink cart girl passed us by every time and only serviced male golfers.
Fantastic layout !
First time playing this course and I just love How the first tee sits up on a large hill ! The way the course is up and down is very challenging. Love the water holes as well. All in all on of my favorites !!
Great day at Hawthorne Hills
We enjoyed our day at Hawthorne Hills. I’m not sure why we were started on the 10th hole, but our first nine holes were slow as a twosome, but probably took about 2 hours. We waited before many shots. Making the turn to hole one, with no one in front of us, and in a cart, the 2nd nine took about an hour. We finished in less than 3 hours total. The course was in great shape: tee boxes, fairways & greens. Sand & rough were also well maintained. Check in was easy with pleasant women getting us started. We arrived 10 minutes before our tee time and told we could start whenever we were ready. Cart girl stopped by twice on our front 9, but didn’t see her on the back nine. Course is well laid out and holes 1-9, away from the road, were very pretty. Good value for our money. Definitely would return and highly recommend.
Great course
This was the first time playing this course. I was so surprised at how nice it was. There are no frills the signs just road signs, the clubhouse is old and loud but the course is a ton of fun.
Nice course
A well laid out course with trees positioned to make things interesting if your tee shot is errant or short.
Greens, fairways, and traps were in decent shape. Only negative was the slow pace.
Wonderful Find
We enjoyed the course scenery, but struggled on the greens.
Great course
Wonderful course, and well managed and maintained. Very fair course and lovely environment. Recommend to all.
Nice course, great layout.
Course was in very good condition. Widen open fairways, great views. Will not lose many balls. Pace on front nine was a bit slow, but back nine we moved right along. Good sandwiches and drinks.
Lady in pro shop was VERY nice, wish we would of gotten her name. Will be back.
This was a fun, well laid out course. Especially for this late in the season, it was in excellent shape. The major challenge is negotiating the greens, which often have multiple tiers. There are a couple par 3s that play200+, but overall, distances are manageable. My major complaint is pace of play. I played in seven holes no problem but then caught up to an outing. Pace grinded to a halt. It became impossible to keep a rhythm hitting a shot every 15 minutes. I recommend calling ahead before booking a time.
Love the greens. Pace was a bit slow. Always enjoy playing here.
Hawthorn Hills
They overbooked the day and ran out of carts. They did call us a few hours before our tee time to let us know. We showed up 40 minutes after our scheduled tee time and still needed to wait another 30 for the cart. Staff apologized and said they were overbooked and felt bad about it but they worked as quickly as they could to get carts and keep things moving. Paying full price here is a little steep in my opinion, so look for the hot deals. Nice course. Low key. I'll go back.
staff
While checking in, desk person attempted to insist that I ride along with someone else, who I didn't know. First time that was ever requested. I REFUSED but was irritated that he was insisting that was the course rules.
