Nice open course. Could use some more signs staying where the next tee box is. Also would like to see a few more trees. But it’s a very nice course for the money.
Shocking
Even at $25 hot deal price, I think this course has a hard time justifying the cost. Many fairways are burnt and hard. The clubhouse is under renovation. There was active construction on the "new" front nine. The cart paths are a disaster.
I could see the potential in this course, but it's current product is extremely tough to justify spending 4 hours at.
Always a good choice
For those that have not played this course yet, you should! Recently, they swapped the front and back, meaning you get the tough holes on the front side. Once you get passed the 1-3, you will enter the triangle(as my Homie and I call it)! Holes 4-6 are some tough holes, that require course management, especially when playing from the deeper tees; #7 plays up hill and over a tree line and pretty much a blind shot and if you slice or hook, both sides of this hole offer out of bounds an0 increased difficulty, then there is a signature par3, over water; love that hole! Then comes #9, this is a split fairway and used to be the finishing hole, that plays most difficult, especially if you are not hitting well, playing from the deeper tees or the wind is blowing back in your face. If you manage to make it over the 1st creek, you have a choice to make; left or right! Tip, Right side is a shorter , quicker path, but also offers more risk, as you have to cross a creek on your approach.
The backside offers some challenges, but nothing as significant as the front. Hole 12 plays longer than it indicates; hole 14 if you stay our of the trees or away from the pond, you have a good chance at birdie and hole 18 offers trouble down both sides of the fairway and a possible elevated 2nd shot to the green; trouble on both sides, if you can't control your slice or hook here!
Good Luck!
Big fan of Graywolf
I had heard of this course for years. It was previously Moss Creek, then I think went under, and now it is back as Graywolf. I never played the old course, but I’m a big fan of what it is now. It clearly looks like a course on its way back. The course is very cool and interesting. It is not a boring “down and back.” There’s plenty of water, hills, and unique features. Graywolf is my favorite type of course.
Good value
Course is on decent shape. Biggest complaint is pace of play. Some holes there were three groups waiting on the tee box at one time.
Getting better each time I play
Greens are so much better than it has been in many years. Ted and his crew are doing wonderful landscape work. The only negative is the clover could be addressed again as it is coming back again. Doing my own lawn work I know how this happens all too well.
Worst course I’ve Played this year
Tee boxes are in terrible shape. You cannot tell the difference between the fairways and the rough. Entire course felt like we were playing on concrete because the grounds were so hard. Tried to get drinks at the turn, no one was at the club house. Terrible course for the price.
Lots of potential to be a 5 star next year
Truly only a 3.5 star course but several redeeming qualities. Course layout is super fun, greens are nice and interesting, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Bunkers are hardpan and had some actual rocks (yikes), tee boxes are very chewed up, and grass is spotty in several areas. Pro shop/clubhouse is a trailer while the real thing is being constructed. If any of these shortcomings change it's a solid 4 star and could be 5 star in a year or two but currently a bit overpriced for what you get. Still though I would go back maybe one more time this year. Keep an eye on this one - it could be another great local course in time!
Excellent course !!!
It’s a large and long course. One aspect I loved was when you are playing on each hole you couldn’t see the previous hole you played nor the hole ahead of you !!!
Room for improvement
Tee boxes-atrocious
Still don’t have a clubhouse
Didn’t see any bathrooms
No ball-washers on course
Poor signage on course
Greens-great shape
Pace of play-very slow. Took over 5 hours for my son and myself due to slow play in front of us.
Slow greens
The greens were extremely slow. Very hard to get any consistency on the greens. Had to go back to my normal practice greens today to reset my putting speeds. Worth discounted rates!
Work in progress
Course is still a work in progress. Too many shaggy tee boxes and the greens are still slow and a tad bumpy (not the worst greens I've seen by a long shot though). Still, excited to see what they make of it in a year or two's time. Layout is really fun, so I'm rooting for them.
