Golfer Reviews
Some improvement since reopened.
Greens have improved since reopened but fairways need a lot of improvement. Bunkers are not good at all.
Overall there is a long way to go to get the course back where it was years ago. Very rough compared to other courses at the same price.
Work in progress
The staff was friendly. I called the day before to make sure the range was open but was disappointed when I found out it was closed for mowing. They had a limited selection of beer but no ice. The clubhouse has been under construction for over a year. The only bathroom on the property is the temporary toilet in the shed they use for a clubhouse. The course was in fair shape. A little dry and weedy. We might try it again in a few months if they get the clubhouse done.
Nice course with real potential
Course is in a bit rough shape, but it's clear they're making the investments to bring it around. Really look forward to seeing the course in a year or two. Really enjoy the layout, one the absolute best in the area.
Course Improving
Have played Gray wolf several times this season. Good value. In the spring some greens in rough shape and fairways full of weeds. The course made a noticeable difference improving course conditions. The reeds around some of the ponds have been cut down making the course look more tidy, especially on the 18th hole. Keep it up. Look forward to new club house opening.
Recent round
The course has steadily improved since opening back up,greens could use a little love but other than that it was good.Had a group of 6 in front of us,there were only two of us together so the round took some time but it ended up being a nice Sunday golfing overall can’t complain too much.
Huge improvement this year.
The owner and crew are working so hard to bring this course back to a great condition. Greens and Bunkers are
Looking so much better. A lot of landscaping is happening.
Course is coming back nicely! I’ve always loved the layout!
So much potential
This course could really be wonderful if there were enough investors to redo the fairways, greens, add a greens keeper and hire rangers. This is a Chi-Chi Rodriguez designed course, and is set in a scenic area. But nothing has been done to the fairways or greens. The fairways are just short-cut clover, and the greens are pitted and are inundated with ants. And with it being a budget course, I’m sorry to say….you get a lot of “unmentionables” playing there that have no manners or golf etiquette. And it makes for some real frustration, especially with no ranger to take care of these problems. Slow play, drunkenness, foul language, pot smoking on the course. This behavior is what you’d expect at a trailer park, not a golf course.
The shame is, the owner is wonderful, and has worked hard to build a new clubhouse and try to improve the course. But it takes more than a couple people to make for a quality golf course. I only hope things improve down the road…it has potential. And then the price to play can increase, and keep the troublemakers away.
Fun course
Today we were at Grey Wolf golf course in Clayton. Guess it used to be Moss Creek. Anyway pick up $28 mid day golf special online with cart….not bad. Dan from WPAFB decided to join us for the day.
Grey Wolf came up on GHIN as not rated when we arrived and went to connect. Sooo woo hooo practice round!
The greens were extremely slow. Probably running about a 5 to 6. The breaks in the greens were pretty much negated by the slowness of the greens. The slowest greens I’ve played all year. The fairways were decent but needs more grass in areas.
The carts were brand new with plugs that worked and were very nice. The staff was friendly. The club house is still under construction but the had running water bathrooms.
Honestly I had a blast! It was a fun course really relaxing. Lots of up and down terrain. Got to see deer and a turtle making its way somewhere! I shot a 79 and wife shot a 92. Her chipping was crazy good today! Fun to be aggressive on and around the greens knowing your ball wouldn’t run on through when you were chipping!
Like is said fun course!
Super fun day!
Great staff and good bang for your buck course. Definitely will come back
Graywolf golf course
Everything was really nice greens were playing faster than I'm used to the only thing I've got an issue with is there are no ball washers or nobody comes around asking if you need any refreshments or a snack
Starting to give up hope. Greens are trash and grass is tall everywhere. Cutting the grass while playing, taking the flag out while I was on the fairway. Lawn people were rude
Nice Course
This course is getting better each time I play it. Since the damage from tornado grounds and facility is in great shape.
Course conditions
I’ve been trying to stay optimistic about this course but, it’s been almost 5 years since the tornado damage. They still don’t have their new building finished and the course conditions are still in really bad shape. I would like to see it get back to its former glory when it was Moss Creek. To be honest it just doesn’t seem like it’s ever going to get there. I hope they can because I love the layout of the course.
