Home course
Great course, play the majority of my rounds here. Beautiful views and challenging holes.
Challenging and scenic
The only problem I had was getting there. My GPS took me to the complex and told me I'd arrived, but the Pro Shop was nowhere to be seen. It's at the top of the hill.
The course is very scenic and well designed. Many holes are 'blind' from the Men's tees, but you can usually figure out where to aim.
On a few holes, you hit across a wide hazard to a small green (#10 comes to mind).
The difference between Challenging and Extremely Challenging is the fairways. Extremely challenging courses have rolling fairways - these are level.
fun place
had a Great time... course had a bit if everything, island green, long par 5s, short par 4s, be a great scramble course
Disappointed
Did NOT get to play. Course overbooked no carts available and asked to wait 3 hrs or more passed scheduled tee time for a cart. I requested a refund or raincheck but course would not said GolfNow would have to deal with me.
Greens need repair
Raven Rock is a good course nestled in the hills of Eastern Kentucky. We have played this course a few time over the past few years. The fairways was in great shape but the greens were in poor condition. It made it very hard to hold the line of puts. The pin placement was very challenging which was not a bad thing.
Rock
The course was nice. Great views and great greens! Dogs was running on the course but caused no trouble. I will return an play here again!
Good place to play golf
Good place to play just seems a lil bit expensive. If they lowered the price they'd have more playing and filling the tee times. For all I know they may be filling the times. Lol. I'm just cheap and would like to play 18 holes for $15. But overall I recommend this coarse to anyone!!!!
Raven Rock
Great course, great staff and very great views of eastern ky mountains..
The Course Deserves Better
Fun, challenging course with beautiful scenic views. Multiple carries and high grass on nearly every hole can make losing balls very easy if you don't find the fairway. Not much rough to speak of, and what is there is cut very short. Multiple bunkers in poor condition and they never seem to be raked. Greens are subpar. Patrons seem to rarely repair ball marks and greens are kept short and fast which I believe keeps the greens from healing properly in the summer and fall.
The main problem I have is the lack of a starter and lack of rangers. Pace of play is a huge problem on the weekends and I have had several tee times not be honored due to the staff's unwillingness to disturb the "shoot out" group which can be very frustrating. I think the manager does the best he can with the course, but being owned by a "silent partner" in Teco, really handcuffs him in what he can and can't do. The course is super fun and challenging. Would love to see some changes made, course conditions improved, and some money put into the course. 2.5 out of 5 stars for the current course, 5 out of 5 for the potiential it has.
Beautiful scenery
Course is great shape and beautiful looking from number 9 green you can se the beautiful Virginia and ky mountains.the wildlife and the course is amazing if your ever in the area you should try this place great
Bring extra balls!!
Fairways are perfect and easy to stay on, but one bounce left or right your ball will be lost in some waist high grass. Greens are subpar and speeds are unpredictable.
Raven Rock is a beautifully scenic and challenging golf course which any level of golfer can enjoy.
Raven Rock has an extremely welcoming and helpful staff. The pro shop guys go out of their way to ensure your golfing experience is a pleasant one. The dining room staff also provides great food and service as well. I have never encountered a bad experience at this location. I often recommend this course to everyone I know.
Great course to play and has exceptional views!
Overall the course was in good shape however the back 9 needs a little more attention but was very playable. I will play this course many more times in the future.
Beautiful Appalachian Course
This is a beautiful and challenging course in the eastern Kentucky mountains. The front nine is situated atop the mountain and the back nine works its way down the side of the mountain. This course is very well maintained with beautiful greens. There is only one dog on the course and I have never had any trouble out of him. I especially liked the par 3 14th with its elevated tee box and circular green surrounded by water. Compared to other courses in the area this one deserves five stars. I will be frequenting this course. My only complaint is that it's always busy, but what do you expect with such a nice course
Great background of the mountain terrain surrounding this course.
Out of the ordinary course with many elevation changes and unique approaches. The staff have done an execellent job of breaking up the fivesome and sixsomes that have in the past plagued this course. I've played three times in the last 10 days and am pleased to say that the pace of play was normal-quick.
The course is in great shape considering the time of year. My only gripe is with the public. Have some respect and repair your ball marks. Far two many divots for me to repair on a couple holes. Total classless for anyone to ignore their ball mark in my opinion.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful on all matters.
Excellent
Wonderful mountain top course. Challenging, but fair. Friendly staff and great pace of play. This course has wonderful greens.
Fun course to play with very good greens.
Links style course on top of a mountain. The greens are always in good shape. Very challenging with beautiful views of the mountains.
Staff was very rude.
The staff had dogs all over the course. My ball was being chased by the staff's dog and they were constantly barking during play. This is by far the worst managed course I have ever played. Sand traps were unraked, carts needed recharged after only 9 holes, no water in any coolers, and trash was all over the course. Very poor!!!!!
I wouldn't play here again if they paid me to play.

You're definitely right
I play there frequently. They have only one very well mannered dog. To say they have multiple barking dogs is a huge exaggeration and unnecessary.
