Great value
I was very skeptical when booking the round, based on the price. Driving into the course, based on the surrounding housing, I had even more reservations. Arrived early so I took advantage of the driving range. The balls were in good condition, the range was average at best. Noticed that a large group of members were getting ready to go off, thought it was going to be an extremely long day. The starter asked if I would like to go off early and get ahead of the group. One of the nicest starters I've ever come across, took time to give me an overview of the entire course. Found the course to be in excellent shape, greens were good. A few had some dead spots, but overall rolled well. Came up on a couple groups of 2, but was waved through. Finished and was greeted by the starter again. Can't say enough about his kindness, definitely will go back if I'm ever in the area again.
Good value in dapne
a cool morning but starting to warm up. I was paired with a father and he's son, who lived in the subdivision, nice people. Course was in good shape considering it was just 29* yesterday. The holes were fun and not to hard, a couple were vary scenic holes like 17 were the tee box was above the green some sixty feet or so with a little pond beside it. I will be playing this course again!
Every hole is a different challenge.
Every hole is a different challenge. Lots of hills, slopes and dog legs. Nice scenery also. I enjoyed that fact that no two holes looked or played alike, I used almost every club in my bag.
very challenging greens.
Overall a good course. Will challenge your game and patience.
Best Value on the Gulf Coast
From the friendly pro shop, to the very helpful Marshall, to the challenging but fair course...we had an excellent day. Our new favourite course in the area. Highly recommend
Good golf
The course was in good winter condition. The staff was friendly and efficient and the bev cart was out.
Course staff was very friendly.
Course was narrow and houses really close. People using course as a walking path for kids and dogs!
Interesting Course
We had a wonderful experience on the well established, very interesting, course. The course offered many subtle challenges that forces you to strategically play each shot. The staff was terrific, most helpful and genuinely interested in our first time experience on this course. The elevation changes seem very unusual for Gulf Coast courses. We definitely will be playing this course again.
This course is challenging but fair
We really enjoyed playing it . It is hilly with dog legs both left and right. The greens are undulating but roll true
Lake forest
The golf course is in excellent condition. The greens are very fast
Elevatios
My first time playing here and I used Golf Now.com. to purchase my round. The staff was friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed the challenges of the slightly tight fairways but I was in awe of the elevation changes on a course in lower Alabama. The course winds through the neighborhood and there are some holes that are blind tee shots.Overall I enjoyed it and would play here again.
Great course
My husband and I had a great time. He walked it and I rode.
Comfortable
Value for the money was great! The staff was easy going and helpful. Conditions for earlyJanuary were as expected, greens a little long, etc... But things that could be controlled like traps were were very good. Fun day.
not worth the money
Wanted to play RTJ Magnolia Grove but they were cart paths only so after reading reviews on Lake Forest we decided to play there. I was not impressed at all. For starters the name Lake Forest Yacht and Country Club is very misleading. There isn't a yacht club anywhere near the place, their country club is old and run down and not a country club at all. Had a small men and women's locker room and a walk up counter to order food and drink. The pro shop didn't even know what type of greens they had and their range balls were just a conglomeration of old used balls. The golf course was like a cow pasture and the greens were very bumpy. They have water on one hole which is #17. Was told that in 2 years they have budgeted for new greens which will meet PGA guidelines. Don't waste your time or money. Should have done cart paths only on the RTJ.
great course
I always enjoy playing this course. It is always in good shape. The staff is very friendly and the clubhouse has great food and drinks
Great course, nice use of terrain
This is the second time I have played this course in as many years. The course is in relatively good shape for this time of year. Fairways and greens were in good shape. The only negative was the abundance of leaves just off the fairway. It made finding a ball that would have been in the first cut almost impossible to locate. The mashall was friendly and the course was wide open. Looking forward to another loop here soon.
fun to play
This course is not flat like a lot of Florida courses I played from the whites there were some well placed dog legs. The roughs were bare in a lot of spots. The par threes were nice. For the money we will go back
Great course great price!
Father and son veterans on Veterans Day playing this course. Doesn't get much better than that!
The best course I've played of the previous 12 courses I've played.
It was a perfect day for golf! The course was well groomed other that a surplus of pine cones. & needles on the sides of the fairways. The greens were in prime shape & fast. Collins in the pro shop was very congenial & super good in assisting us for play. This time of the year the sun was low & at times it was difficult to find your ball even in the fairway when a few leaves were present! I definitely would play this course again as it was interesting. & challenging. Number 17, obviously the signature hole, didn't disappoint me .
Great value
I always enjoy the course. Tight and challenging at times with nice greens. You can get stuck behind some of the older members and they won't let you play through. Otherwise, this course is nice with a few elevation changes. I enjoy it.
