Saturated greens
I play this course regularly and today was the worst I have ever seen the greens. We have taken a lot of rain over the past two weeks, which is what I attribute the course condition to. The greens had aeration holes mostly filled with sand so putting went from one extreme to the other, from putting in a bunker to putting on pavement. But, overall, it is still my favorite course in northern Alabama.

I used every club
Interesting golf course. Starts off with a par 5 downhill and then up to an elevated green after crossing the stream at the bottom of the hill. Each hole is different. It’s tight, but it’s fair. If your tee shot game isn’t good, you’re going to have a tough day.
The fairways are in great shape. The greens are bent grass, so they are pretty stressed in August, when I played there.
My biggest complaint has nothing to do with the course. It’s getting there. The detour since 231 was closed adds another 20 minutes to an already long drive from Huntsville. That sucks.
I think this is a real gem of a golf course for North Alabama. Challenging. Gorgeous location. Some spectacular views of falls and undulating mountain golf.
Just wish it was easier to get to. Every golfer in this area should try it out.

Course is declining
I just played this course yesterday for the 4th time. The people were super nice and made you feel very welcome. I live about an hour away from this course and love going to play it every once in a while. The three previous times I played this course it was in great shape and one of my favorite courses to play. Yesterday it was in rough shape. The greens are some of the worst greens I have played in a very long time and possibly ever. If you made a putt it was all luck because it would hit a thousand bumps and craters on the way to the hole. And on top of that they were SO SLOW. It’s still a nice course don’t get me wrong but it isn’t $50.00 a person nice. In all honesty I can go play a course 10 minutes from my house (that has a chicken farm on it) and they have better greens than Cherokee Ridge by a long shot. I wont be going back to play this course anytime soon that’s for sure. Putting just want any fun. Ive never been to a course where I just wanna pick my ball up on the green and not even putt because they are so bad. I’m not sure even lowering the price would get me to go back right now. But I don’t wanna sound like I’m bashing these guys. If they can get their greens fixed this is a super nice place to go play a round. It’s a good layout, good people working there and the rest of the course is in pretty good shape. Until then ill be playing somewhere else.

Beautiful Course
This is a premiere layout with beautiful views . The day I played the greens were playable but not top notch . The fairways were green and weed free . However, as in the past they are just not plush as some of the better courses in the area. Not sure why the different management owners or their members accept the thinness. But if you have never played this layout you still should very soon as they are building more houses adjacent to two holes.

Excellent round
I had stayed away from this course due to some maintenance issues last time I played, but was very happy to see those resolved and the course was in great shape - fast pace - responsive cart service and as always great pro shop experience. Course can be challenging or accommodating - depending of course on your shot making abilities any particular day!
