tee time at 7 AM
So let me start with I have to work at 10:30 in Huntsville. I’m a solo player so I have to tee off at seven in the morning. The staff doesn’t open up till 710. Really annoying course is not bad. Fairways are kind of trash greens are decent. This is my third time playing here probably won’t be back. She let people go in front of me and I ended up not being able to finish
Great value
Nice course. Nice to see their making improvements. New tee boxes and improvements on greens. Still some bare spots in some Fairways but no big deal. Can be a little challenging finding your ball if you miss the fairway. Twilight after 2:00 for $30 is a great deal usually get 36 holes in on the weekend not really crowded
Great value Friendly staff
Fairly new at this great game of golf and was looking for some different courses to play and this place was perfect for me. The ladies at the desk for check in were very friendly, even ran into the owner later in the day and he was very friendly and even invited me to their church he is the pastor at. The pace of play was great without having groups stacked up on me made for a great day on the course considering I’m not a great player driving straight down the middle of fairways.. The greens were in great shape. It may not be Augusta but if you’re looking for a good course at a great price where the people make you feel like family and a enjoyable day of golf check them out.
Slow Play
Took 4 hours to play 9 holes. Tried to start on back 9 where there was nobody waiting to tee off. Got turned around and was told had to start on hole #1 where there were 12 players waiting to tee off. Tee time was at 8:20 and didn't tee off till 9:00.
Golf thing
Much work is being done on this course to improve every thing about it. Course is getting better as we speak. Great layout and fun course to play. People are great.
New course, I hope
Looks like several farms converted. They are doing good work turning it into a course, just about 70% finished.
Not Likely to Play Here Again
My biggest complaint of the day was that they do not honor tee times, despite offering them. So no matter what time you show up you will be battling with any other random strangers who happen to show up at that time to see who can get to the tee box first. When I arrived at 8:15 for my 9am tee time, there was a line of about 30 people in front of me just to check in at the "clubhouse" that is barely a small shack. They had one single restroom in the clubhouse, not even multi-use, and no additional facilities anywhere else on the course. No water coolers either. By the time I got my cart it was 8:55. We loaded up quickly and drove to the first tee just after 9:00 where they actually had a starter there (only to check my receipt and confirm we paid, so assuming that has been an issue for them) but he asked if we had a tee time and then he said 'oh, yeah... we are running a bit behind this morning' indicating that the five groups in front of me still waiting to tee off were still going to tee off in order of arrival. So then every single hole for the entire round had 2-4 groups on at a time making the pace INSANELY SLOW. We finished our round around 2:45, making it almost 6 hours total, and that was after multiple groups in front of us actually just quit and went home. The greens were mostly in good shape appearance-wise, but they were wall cut extremely high so it was like trying to putt on thick carpet all day. I've never played slower greens in my 20+ years of golf. Some of the fairways were decent, but most of them were half-filled with weeds while others were half dirt and rocks. Signage getting from one hole to the next was non-existent and the layout takes you all over the place so it was a good challenge on some holes just to find the next tee. The 'driving range' practice area was big enough to fit maybe five people and was long enough to maybe hit 180-200 yards, but the grass and weeds were so grown up I doubt you'd know where you landed either way. Honestly, despite hearing about how well the QC Campground is doing and bringing in tons of revenue for the venue, it appears they are NOT reinvesting any of that new money back into the golf course which was very disappointing.
Great course
Very friendly staff from the shop to the groundskeepers. Course has good layout and has a good amount of grass in the fairways. Greens are in great shape. Some groups need to learn to let others through, but otherwise is a great place.
5 1/2 HR Round
First time playing got it on golf now because closer course that I usually play was aerated 2 days ago. Thought to myself this course has to at least be better than aerated greens…. I could went to a local farmers cow pasture and had a better golf experience… worst thing is I paid for two buddies to play also…. Will never be going back, wasn’t aware that you can’t purchase alcohol but it’s BYOB… lots of local hillbillies at this track that have never once hit a ball at the range and it showed. Family of 7 Tee’d off 3 groups ahead with tee times 6 mins apart. Course is only about 5000 yards max. Has some scenery but there’s no distinction between fairway and rough. Greens were pleasing to the eye but harder than concrete and rolled about a 2 on the stimpmeter max. Twosome 3 groups ahead couldn’t get the ball 50 yards off the tee box but waited till the group ahead was 300+ away “just in case” had 3 groups stacked on every tee because no hillbilly is gonna be seen playing from the reds even though they shot 10 on every hold including par 3s…. Gotta say it’s the worst course I've ever played by far and I have played over 200 courses. Also the range was closed, on a Saturday morning not because it was wet or anything just simply because, there is also no putting green. If you can’t get it for $10 don’t go. This is definitely a course to just go get wasted and tear up stuff if you’ve got all day to waste.
Good course—fair value on hot deals
Course is a good deal on hot deals. On regular rate of $35, it is a bit too much as it is more like a $25-$30 value course. Greens are in good shape for the most part, but some of the fairways have bare spots. Also some of the teeboxes you need a drill to get a tee into the ground, because they are so hard. Staff is very friendly and they appreciate all the customers. Course has definitely improved after the layout has changed.
Good for the price
We played 18 holes for Father’s Day and for the price that we paid. It was a good value. Wish we would have known that the course does not sell alcohol and furthermore, the county does not sell alcohol on Sundays. We played after a rainy day so some of the holes or quite wet. Overall, had a great time though.
Fairways have lots of dead or no grass. Greens were in decent shape. They are trying to to repairs to course and when they finish it'll be really nice. Price is fair fir consider course shape. Got behind a Groupe of 8 teenagers with loud radios and and slowing everyone else up wouldn't let anyone play through
Great course on the rebuild
This course is exceeded my expectations. Going in I expected poor conditions with terrible greens and fairways. Once I started the round, the course wasn’t that bad considering the grass that was killed from a hard uncharacteristic late freeze that occurred last spring. The crew at QC is working hard to bring the course up to where it should be. The greens are overall really good. They have some dead spots, but nothing unplayable. The fairways seem to be a work in progress. The staff were super nice, and upfront about the makeover the course is receiving. The location is in the middle of nowhere, but I’d say it’s more of a hidden gem.
WET DAY
The course was cartpath only from all the rain. We were all EXHAUSTED when we finished.
Quail Golf Hartselle
I played this course last year and felt it was the worst course I had ever played or seen………someone told me they had done some work on the course so I played it again……..it’s still the worst course I’ve ever played or seen………to call the fairways a cow pasture is a compliment…….took me over an hour to clean my shoes and clubs……..it’s a rock pit with weeds…….the greens were totally scalped……..on a mower with two flat tires on one side…….I wouldn’t play it again they paid me……way over priced……….
Shicking
I had read some reviews saying the course had improved so I thought I would give it a shot. They were WRONG. The course is in horrible shape from tee to green.
Great course!
Not the nicest or the hardest course around but by far the best course for your money. Course has some improvements being worked on right now but is still in good shape overall. Can be a little confusing your first round but everyone out there is friendly and willing to help you navigate. The landscape is beautiful and once all the improvements are completed it’s going to be a top course in North Alabama.
Fun course
The people are great to their customers. A course friendly group. Layout is fun to play. Some beautiful scenery, especially hole number 8. Course is very quiet, away from noise.
