Beautiful day at Historic City Park Course
You can never be too early to play at City Park if you plan 18 holes on the 9 hole course. Front 9 was a learning round but the pace was good. As a single was able to play through a slow group and the pace was good. The course had some surprises that a first time player won't know until they get in trouble - the roads and tracks are closer than you think and 8th hole direction not clear from the tees as the cart path turns right but the course goes left. Was a fun day even though had to do some scrambling to save par on many holes.
Great course!
Awesome little 9 hole course for the price. Greens are nice. Pace of play was pretty slow. Played by myself and when I went to start the back 9….the 10th hole had about 4 groups of people waiting to tee off.
City Park Golf Club
This course has made some big improvements especially clearing out some of the bushes/brush on some of the holes (not so many lost balls!)
Greens still need a bit of work but overall it’s good value for money
3 Peas in a Pod
The greens are in great shape. The course cut nicely. Enjoyed this round with the Brother's and a new Friend, Louis!
Greens and tee boxes were bad
For a 9 hole course, it should be a bit easier to maintain. The greens are tee boxes were pretty bad. Staff was not interested in being accommodating. So much so that the gentleman driving the blower blew grass in our faces on the first tee. He told us to turn away rather than waiting for us to tee off.
Historic City Park
The layout of the course is neat going through the hilly area of Baton Rouge. The fairways are tight and narrow which provides a huge challenge. The greens were in okay condition. Not the fastest greens I’ve played on. The course overall is worth the money.
Good Value But Play is Often Slow
I like the course and have played there a lot. The course is much better in terms of maintenance than in previous years. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and it’s nice to be able to practice chipping and putting on the practice green. The problem is there are too many people walking and it slows down the pace since most people are riding. You just can’t spread out enough with only 9 holes and limited space.
Very Slow pace of play
This course has been a go to for me for about a decade or so. Considering other local options as the pace of play has got ridiculous to say the least. Five or even six different groups all waiting to tee off at the same time, with three groups coming off number nine to finish their round. This is absurd. Our group wound up having to skip ahead several holes on multiple occasions to keep pace of play. I understand there may be a lot of new comers to the sport and that is encouraging. However, don’t book tee times and allow everyone walking up to start play immediately and cause the fiasco I witnessed at hole number one. A little attention to detail could really alleviate this, and make this place a lot more enjoyable for everyone.
Better than ever
Fairways have nice fluff grass to them, greens look GREAT. Fast and rolls smooth. I think the amount of rain has really helped this course in the last month. Take advantage while you can lol
Staff are friendly greens are good even with a week of rain, cart paths ar a little rough in places over all a very nice place to play golf
Embarrassing for the city
Needs MAJOR renovation, seams like money hasn’t been spent on the course since it was open in 1920
