Very Slow pace of play
This course has been a go to for me for about a decade or so. Considering other local options as the pace of play has got ridiculous to say the least. Five or even six different groups all waiting to tee off at the same time, with three groups coming off number nine to finish their round. This is absurd. Our group wound up having to skip ahead several holes on multiple occasions to keep pace of play. I understand there may be a lot of new comers to the sport and that is encouraging. However, don’t book tee times and allow everyone walking up to start play immediately and cause the fiasco I witnessed at hole number one. A little attention to detail could really alleviate this, and make this place a lot more enjoyable for everyone.
Better than ever
Fairways have nice fluff grass to them, greens look GREAT. Fast and rolls smooth. I think the amount of rain has really helped this course in the last month. Take advantage while you can lol
Staff are friendly greens are good even with a week of rain, cart paths ar a little rough in places over all a very nice place to play golf
Embarrassing for the city
Needs MAJOR renovation, seams like money hasn’t been spent on the course since it was open in 1920
Great Course
I recommend this course because it’s the best price around for 18 holes of golf and the course is wonderful. Also the staff is well mannered and the equipment is always clean and ready to go. Thanks for a great experience.
New go to!
This was my 4th time playing this course since October 26. It is my new go to course. Pace of play has been great. I’m 30 and like that there is never any “youngins makin a ruckus”. Nice easy day on the course everytime ive been. Greens were in really good shape as they have been the past few times.
Really good course in Baton Rouge. Especially for the money. I’ve sworn off LSU and was looking for something new and every time I have gone there it’s been really nice.
Great value
People dont give this place enough credit. Great for beginners. Walking price of 10 dollars when you pay ahead cant't be beat. Greens are in beeter shape right now than at private courses in the area with 50 dollar tee times.
Course Conditions
Fairways were nice, but the greens could have been better. A really beautiful old course to play.
Course Was in Great Shape
I've played CP for a couple of years and today the course was in the best shape it's ever been in. The fairways and greens were very well maintained. For a nine-hole course, it's a very nice experience and a quick play if you don't have much time or the weather is hot and you don't want to play 18.
Needs work but is actually not bad.
I play City Park's course all the time (1-2 times per week) because I go to LSU and it is cheap. Honestly, if some of the trees were trimmed back (not to make it easier but to allow some of the drier/dead areas to get some sunlight) this course would NOT be in bad condition at all. Tee boxes are kept up with very well and the greens actually play pretty well. It is maintained in those two categories but the fairways are in pretty terrible condition on a few holes and there is no variation between fairway and rough because the rough is the fairway on the next hole due to condensed space. It is only 12 dollars to play, and 5 dollars for twilight...... Kind of hard to beat that just to get a practice round in haha. Hope this helps!
