Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses (2020 #4)
Reviews
Disappointing in several ways
This used to be the Denham Springs country club. Which makes it more appealing that the course conditions were soooo bad. The tee boxes were hard packed dirt. Multiple greens were more sand than grass. The grass in the fairways was so longbthat it was difficult at times to find your ball IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FAIRWAY. The tee box deal was pretty inventive for a 9-hole course to make it into an 18-hole course. The practice green was ridiculously unkempt and did not represent other greens on the course. I’ll be checking this off the list of places I’m willing to play after 1 “adventure”.
Course staff
The golf course staff is absolutely the best. The friendliest people I’ve ever talked to at any golf course in my life. I live near by so The Pines is my go to spot for a quick 9 holes or if I’ve got the time, 18. The golf course itself I would say is great for beginners. It’s not a difficult course and if you are not a beginner, it’s a great course to practice. I go here with my buddies all the time to practice and just have fun. I’m not reviewing this course to critique the small things that I think need to be fixed or pointed out, just a review for the people who have never been and can’t decide. No one is here to judge you at this course! All around great people, from the staff to all the players. It’s like a perfect little community!
Course Conditions
Still have som ework to do on the greens. AKA #3 :)
Great Value, Very Average
Great for first time players or those who just want to get on the course and get “their feet wet”. Speaking of which, the course can be very muddy in quite a few places so definitely stay on the path when you can. Price is very reasonable compared to many others in the greater area. Greens aren’t very fast but with that comes some inconsistency. A couple of the greens hardly have any good grass (January) to begin with. Other than that, for anyone who just wants to run the course or learn how to play this is a great course for you.
Course was extremely saturated and the greens were horrible.
Thank you for your review! Remember that January is off season, it is cold & rains constantly in South Louisiana. As we entered our off season, we have been working hard for our greens to be in great shape for the Spring. Once the cold is gone & rainy season is over, come back & check us out!
Thank you for your review! We are sorry that you were disappointed. We would like to hear more on your feedback! Keep in mind, January is cold & nothing grows. We have been working hard this off season for our course to be in great condition in the Spring! Come back & see us then, we hope you will change your mind about us!
Not able to play
Not able to play but this course and staff were super nice. Thanks Step for the hospitality and help
Great value for the money you pay
It’s obviously not a tour course but pards does a good job of keeping it clean and well cut. Really appreciate the water that’s put out for the hotter days. Love the course
Hole number one could use some drainage as you get closer to the green and the green on hole number 3 needs a lot of work. Other than that, its a really fun course, for the price.
With new management they working hard to improve the course
Tight layout but fun
The course is made challenging by the tight layout and small greens. Unlike a lot of the reviews, I found it to be fairly well maintained.
Too small, even for a nine hole course
Not enough land for a golf course. Love the mature trees, but because the course is so tight and the trees are so full, you have about a 20 yard section on most fairways to hit the ball or you won't have a look at the green. Not to mention, the smallest greens I've ever played on.
Mystic Creek Experience Stay & Play Package
Thank you for your review! We have been working hard this off season on the greens so they are in great shape for the Spring. Come back & check it out after the rainy season!
