Riverchase Golf Club

About
One of Jim Fazio’s first solo projects, Riverchase is a surprisingly tough challenge given its lack of trees and relatively short length. The course runs through the bottomlands of the Elm Fork Trinity River and is loaded with water due to a chain of interconnecting lakes created to collect heavy rains and irrigate the course. While there are no forced carries, water comes into play at least 12 holes, and out-of-bounds is a frequent concern because of the housing community that surrounds the course.
No. 5 is the most difficult rated hole–a long dogleg right par 4 that requires a solid tee shot to be in position to reach the green in two. The approach is long and uphill into a severely back-to-front sloping green with a lake on the right and out-of-bounds and bunkers on the left.
Two holes later, No. 7 is one of the toughest approaches in all of DFW. This hole plays due south into the prevailing wind, and the elevated green has a depth of only about 25 feet. Bunkers line the back, and the slope in front is significant. Ups and downs are difficult because of the slopes in the green. Take a look at the pin placement when you’re teeing off on No. 4.
The good news is that other than out-of-bounds, the course is mostly wide open, so you’ll generally have a shot if you just miss the fairway. The only thick spot for trees is along the creek on holes 14-16.
Getting there : Take the Belt Line exit off of 635 and drive north to MacArthur. Turn right (east) and drive to Riverchase Dr., where you’ll turn left. Look for the course on the right side of the road.

Course needs to lower prices or fix the course
No water stations throughout the entire course. Also no ball cleaning stations either. Many holes had sand trying to cover the bald spots on the green. Understand the recent heavy rains but being told ahead of time of many greens with below avg conditions would should have been done especially when charging high prices for a "fair grade" course
Meh
They are trying but course conditions are not where they should be. Too many greens with bare spots. Too many busted sprinler head leaking for a course that is going to need every ounce of water it can find in 3 month. Some tee boxes need to be leveled also. This could easily be a favorite course if they can get conditions up to the area municipal standards. Probably won't give them a another chance until next year.
River chase
Almost good…. Greens are a bit long but only a few had sand.
Greens Need Work
The overall course was fine, but the greens were inconsistent as some seemed long and others lacked grass. Perhaps they had recently sanded, but it needs another few weeks to improve.
Gone down hill!
This course holds a special place in my heart but I will never play there again! Greens are unplayable! Fairways are full of holes! The cart path is the worst I have ever seen! No bev cart or water stations on the course. Sad to see that it has fallen off so badly. Hope they make changes.
It’s not too bad
The course needs a lot of love and attention. From the cart paths to the sandy tee boxes you could just tell this course needs someone to invest in it.
It was value for the money, but we aren’t going to make it a point to go back.
Course needs a lot of work
Bad tee boxes, cart path almost destroyed. Overgrown greens, looks like the place is unmanaged.
Poor conditions
Front 9 had pretty decent greens. Back 9 were horrible. Little effort has been done to update holes.
Hidden gem
I went into my first time to this course completely blind. I was scrambling for a tee time and stumbled on to this one. However, i am so glad i did. The grass was in pretty good shape considering the time of year, the greens were not bad although a couple still had some sand. The course has nice narrow fairways and has enough shape to make the course a fun kind of tricky. I want to recommend the course but i don't want it to get too busy then.
Unfortunate
Riverchase is a wonderfully designed course and was kept up well years ago. However, the upkeep has been very poor. The greens have weeds, dirt, sand... The fairways are OK in spots, but overall not kept up. They don't have drink carts that I am aware of and no water on the course.
Great!
Excellent conditions for this time of year, super friendly staff!
Absolutely atrocious
Absolutely brutal course, fairways have tons of ditches and hardly any grass. There was a 6some in front of us so the round took about 5 hours. The only decent part was the greens which I woild give 4/10. Safe to say i’ll never be playing this course again.
What?
Course in terrible shape, group ahead of us constantly driving back into us as we were trying to hit the ball, young people running and screaming on the course. Awful experience, money wasted.
