Coyote Ridge Golf Club
About
Coyote Ridge Golf Club, opened in 1999, features some unusual holes that traverse a variety of unique terrain. Each nine is strikingly different -- the front plays through a burgeoning residential community, is generally wide open and void of trees, and takes on the characteristics of a links-style course.
Water comes into play six times on the front, including the extremely difficult ninth hole, which doglegs left around a lake that stretches all the way around the green. Survive the tee shot by bailing right if you have to, but consider laying up on the approach since the water bends all the way around and surrounds the green on three sides. You’ll still have the chance for an up-and-down par, and playing for bogey is much better that rolling into the turn after a double-digit disaster.
Also on the front, No. 7 is a fun par 3 because of the 70-foot drop in elevation. The tee shot goes 165 yards over water into a very wide, challenging green.
Coyote Ridge Golf Club's back nine rolls through an abandoned rock quarry along the Trinity River, featuring more trees and elevation changes.

Solid choice in North DFW
Depending on the deal you get, for $75-100 this course is infinitely better than other options in Frisco/Plano priced in the same band. Staff is friendly, clubhouse is clean and food is great. Played 3 times in last 5-6 weeks and everything is in good/great shape. Even played day after aeration and had a good time. Course drains well and even day after torrential downpour only a few holes are cart path only. Highly recommend.
Yikes
Have played this course over the past 20 years and this is the worst I have seen it. Greens were in bad shape with weeds growing in it everywhere. Greens were very hard and was hard to keep any shots on them as it would bounce a few times then run off. Even with a ton of spin on the ball. Tee boxes and fairways weren't horrible. Greens speeds were not consistent so made it very difficult to put. Greens were very furry as well. First cart we had quit working and then the second one stopped working at times. I am wondering if owner shipped changed recently. With all the rain we have had in DFW over the last few months you would think the courses would be in amazing shape. Did not see the cart girl one time during our round either. Definitely not worth the price tag. Should be more like $30 each with its condition.
Inconsiderate
Course was full of inconsiderate people with zero golf etiquette. Not sure why the course let a single player go out also at 9:30 in the morning. 4some in front of me would not let me play through even though they had not teed off when I pulled up to the tee boxes. 3 hours to play 10 holes is absurd.
Almost there
Fairways were good, Greens and tee boxes need help. Some sand traps had too many pebbles vs sand.
Great course, with an ambush...
Really good track.
It is wildly inappropriate to announce to arriving, pre-paid tee times that, OH the range is closed an OH the beverage cart isn't running (on a Friday afternoon in May)...and OH it's cart path only when 90 would have been absolutely fine.
No clip to the rate, which is already atop other local options. This tee time should have been reduced at arrival and some refund provided, or a future round comped/discounted.
I guess I'll be back, but not without checking really hard about amenities. Taking client here yesterday was a flat experience with most amenities off limits. Meh.
North DFW gem
I was really impressed by Coyote Ridge. The course is in great shape, the layout is fun and a challenge. The greens are firm and fast and rolled pure.
Will definitely be back!
Going Down Slowly
Used to be one of the best public courses in the Metroplex. Conditions are now average at best. Many greens are sprinkled with with poiana grass making putting difficult. They have spent a lot of $$$ on planting new trees (which were not needed) when the money should have been spent on fairways and especially green maintenance. Also, for a Monday, the pace of play was terrible at 4hours 45 minutes.
Should get better
Fairways were in good shape, greens were slow and some of the cups needed to be moved as they were pretty beat up. Not worth full greens fee, but if discounted, it’s well worth it.
Great mix of easy & hard holes
Conditions are great considering it is early April. On course marshall did nothing to address a foursome that fell 2 holes behind another foursome, so we skipped a hole to save 30 min. Staff was friendly, as usual.
The course is in nice shape
I would come play here again but one thing I did notice was there was no cart service and for the money that was unusual.
Wow!
Great Course! Great facilities! Definitely recommend!!
Awesome clubhouse
This place has great layout decent greens and pace of play was good
Course is Super Hard
Surprised that the course was in such good shape after prolonged rain in the area. Cart path only made the round difficult, but CPO was necessary. Came to the course really hungry and was hoping for a quick bite. Quick bites are unavailable. Ended up driving to McDonalds before the round :(.
