gusty winds 20 mph sustained 35 mph gusts
made the course tough to play.
Slow
Starter blamed the men's league but he was two holes behind and wouldn't let us play thru( he was playing not being starter)

Disappointed
This course was great last year. It has gone down hill. Tee boxes and greens were good, fairways are terrible. Heard they had new management about a year ago….. Not good!!! Will pay more to get on a better course in the same area for our annual get away

Great links course for a really good price
Beautiful course. Great layout. Far from pristine fairways but the greens were well maintained. Challenging course especially the 18th if your playing blues/blacks.
Very playable course for all levels
Mostly out of the wind, this beach course is one of my favorites on the Coast and in good condition, especially the greens. Just enough challenge and always fun and never too busy midweek. Highly recommended!

Great Layout - Poorly Maintained
I've played Florence Golf Links (Sandpines) many times before. While I do love the layout and the course itself, sadly, the whole experience was immensely disappointing.
There is a short uphill drive to the clubhouse off of 35th St. As the clubhouse came into view my initial thoughts were "Is this place still open?" Gosh, the parking lot and exterior of the clubhouse are in great disrepair. Overgrown shrubbery, old chipped paint all over the clubhouse exterior and no sense of pride in the property at all.
Inside the clubhouse was just as barren. Premade sandwiches and bottles of soda are really the only food options as the bar and grill is closed (form what I hear, it's been closed for many years now). The walk to the men's restroom inside the clubhouse was dark and cold. The main entrance to this once grand building has been locked shut with an iron bar placed across the handles of the door to prevent exit/entry. The pro shop is barely stocked with any merchandise at all (Not even a ball with the logo of the course).
The course itself was OK. Bunkers are some of the worst in area. fairways are thin, but I guess that is what a links course is, eh? Greens were better than most, however.
Overall, I can never complain about a round of golf but i might think twice about coming back to Sandpines, especially at the high summer rates of over $100.
Sad to see the decline of a course with such great history and promise.

They had just plugged and sanded the greens, give it a couple of weeks and it will be in awesome shape!
