Great off season course.
Living in the Eugene/Springfield area we tend to play Tokatee in the late spring, summer and fall. We usually buy a links card and depending on the weather, try to get out to FGL once a week. Last winter and spring the weather so bad we never made it out to you. Previous years it worked out well for us as we really enjoy playing FGL. I didn't rate the off-course amenities as because of covid and staffing issues, the restaurant wasn't open and we had to go into town to eat. Otherwise, great course.
Outstanding Oregon Costal Course
I've played Florence Golf Links (Sand Pines) many times. It is a challenging links style costal course and fun to play. It wraps through dunes and trees, walk from green to the next tee box is easy except for a slight uphill track from 9 to 10. Recommended if you get a chance to visit Florence.
In excellent shape
The course has come along so far the past 2 years. If you haven't played it lately, you are missing out!
Very Good Choice of Golf in Florence
Florence golf links is the beast choice of golf in Florence, OR. Course conditions are fantastic for winter golf.
Fairways, Greens, this golf course is hard to beat, From the staff to the greens crew all are very professional.
Fun Links Style Course
I really enjoy the course and play there as often as I can and when the weather permits. We come down from SW Washington to play there on my days off. Of the two courses in Florence, I prefer the Links course.
The course is well maintained is easy to navigate. I don't often score well there but the scenery is beautiful and more than makes up for my play.
As the wind is often blowing there play can be challenging but that is really part of the fun, I get to play the course and the weather. When the weather is calm, the course plays well. Watch out for #5 when it's windy,
The amenities are nice but the restaurant has not been open the last few times I have been there. Great pro shop. They do offer senior rates with a lunch from the snack, bar.
I love the 18th hole with all the water on the left. It's a par 5 that I normally par and leaves me in a great mood and wanting to return.
A perfect day of golf on the Oregon Coast
Frost delay so they started us on the back 9. I highly recommend playing this course this way whenever possible! I feel that the front 9 is a lot better protected from the wind so playing the front 9 later in the afternoon actually led to about 5 strokes better than my usual score here.
Side note; the course was in phenomenal shape and greens were immaculate; smooth, quick (but not ridiculous) and true. The ball broke on the line you saw.
Great track
Enjoyed this layout. Green speed up in the low teens and a challenge to read for a first timer. Pro shop staff (Chris) was great.
RLE
This is one of my “go to” courses when RV’ing thru So Oregon. It’s in great shape & is a good test of one’s golf game (it’ll punish poorly placed shots). It’s a links layout - hit it off the grass & you’ll loose your expensive ProV1! I recently played 2 rounds there. My only complaint is the slow pace of play (4.5 + hrs per round)! This was in the AM on a Thurs & Sat in October.
Fun course in the dunes
While on the coast it’s not “right on the ocean” in great shap when we played in May, Weather a bit damp but not a problem. Beautiful trees and marshes , woven between the dunes. Staff was friendly but the didthave much in the way of food or beverages. Impressive club house seemed closed.
Course play history
I've been playing here shortly after the course originally opened. It has always been a challenge for mid teen HC, but ultimately extremely fair. Wish the putting course would open again, and concerned about the N par 5 #7. Come to play from about 120 miles couple or more times a year, and recommend to anyone. Prices have gotten higher, but still reasonable. Florence restaurants add to trip.
It is a great layout
I love the layout getting the link’s style effect.
It has gotten a little worn I fear due to staffing. A full restaurant and bar open when we play would be nice.
In truth I can afford to play unless I am with someone who got a special price. To expensive and add the drive from the Eugene area.
Love this course
Lots of challenging holes and super fun. This is our favorite course
Fun Coast Golf Course
We play this course at least once a summer, and it's always worth the trip from Vancouver, WA, where we live. Fun weekend of golf and ocean views.
True Sandpines fan
Still a great value and condition despite the new owners best efforts to ruin it. It started with the idiotic name change when Sandpines was a perfect name and analogy of what the course was. Also the paint job in the clubhouse looks like an IHOP restaurant and they surrendered the 8th hole to nature when they could have embraced it and made an even better hole.
Fun Course!
First time playing here and I had a great time. I lucked out on the weather as it was sunny, 65-70 degrees with very little wind. The course is beautiful , fun and challenging. At first I thought this was going to be easy but it got progressively harder then leveled out as the round continued. Seeing sand dunes on the course was so cool! The staff is friendly and helpful.
I couldn't wait to tell all my friends about this place as I thought I discovered a gem on the Oregon coast. We are all pandemic golfers (16-20 handicap) and are hooked. We mostly play the public courses in Portland so places like this are a treat.
Check it out if you have the chance!
Florence Links
Nice course. In good condition, greens were cut for a fairly quick pace. Several holes with doglegs right or left. Overall a fun and mostly forgiving course. Give it a try.
Oregon coast golf at its finest
First time at Florence golf links and I was welcomed kindly by staff, the amenities and course lay out were phenomenal. The course played firm and responsive and has a great mix of obstacles. Will definitely play it again.
