Attempt at fleecing
I booked my tee time on the Golfnow app and loaded my cart to play. My wife and my 10 year old were going to ride the cart with me. As I got ready to push off, a "staff member " that was hanging over the rail told me that you cannot ride 3 to a cart. I'm thinking ok, maybe they want to charge me a riding fee due to the great rate that I received so I will just pay the difference and then push off. He then tells me that my 10 year old can ride, but my wife will have to get a 2nd cart just to accompany me and will need to pay a whooping $33 to do so. I asked about a refund because there was no way I was going to pay that. He said that since I payed online, I will have to talk to who I booked with. My wife has riden the cart with me several times at this course and not had to pay an extra dime. I know the course recently changed management and they are trying to promote a more upscale experience but the best thing they can do is run that "Hee Haw" off as quick as they can.
No bathrooms and holds water
I came up from Panama and heard a few great things about this place but it rained the day before but the fairways hold mass amounts of water very bad drainage issue. There are no water kegs or bathrooms anywhere on the course. The ball washes smell really bad too. I’d love to come back but for the price over 50 after taxes it’s not up to par with that.
Good for the price we paid ...
Cottonwood was originally an excellent and quite challenging course that was well maintained. It has been up and down in recent years and seems to be on the rebound somewhat as far as upkeep and course conditions. It is very playable ...
Cottonwood
This course was in excellent condition. Fairways were perfect. Staff were very friendly. The builting was been repaint. Restaurant was close. I would recommend this golf course
Cottonwood Golf Course
The course was slow pace of play due to recent heavy rains. Standing water and muddy conditions made it longer than usual due to walking more. Additionally, since we were new to the course we were searching for the correct pins to play towards. The course would probably be more fun to play when it is dry and more familiar with the course layout. Would like to replay the course in the future. The greens were in very good condition and fast.
No FOOD??
Course you can tell was desirable probably 10 years ago! The clubhouse is dated, wood rotting on it. Explains why they can’t get a “food license”! I paid $30.99 on GolfNow. And that was a coin toss. But when my other son decided to join us, regular rate is $44! Not worth that price
Average
First time playing this course and Alabama. This course does not over seed for winter, so other than greens, everything was brown. Not a bid deal, but an over seeded course would have been nicer. Only about 6-7 golfers on the whole course which was nice. Some of the rough was pretty gnarly and you couldn't find your ball. Not a problem if you hit it where you want. Greens were good. Average course but not spectacular.
Diamond in the rough
Nice layout, pretty interesting course. Not a lot of elevation, but the breeze made it a nice challenge, and you can't beat the value. A bit off the beaten path. But I was surprised there weren't more golfers out on such a beautiful day for golf. It's not Robert Trent Jones, but I would definitely play this course again. And Byron did a nice job. PS par isn't 27. Regulation 18 holes.
