This course barely qualifies as average
It started when I asked for a medium bucket of range balls. I was told where the range was located; told "they" could handle my range needs. The range is machine operated; "they" are not there... There is a machine, credit card activated, that will provide a large bucket, and only a large bucket, of range balls. So, I overpaid for my warm up.
I was told there was a course score card on the cart. And there was; it was closed. So I didn't open it until I walked off #1 green. I don't know who "E" and "L" are, but they left their completed card on the cart. No one bothered to check and replace it.
It appeared to me that the hole locations had not been changed for several days at a minimum.
One wooden bridge has been recently replaced. But others need to be replaced as well. I remember an old adage that: "You can tell the status and condition of a golf course by the condition of the cart paths." If the paths are in need of repair or repaving, there is little money going into maintenance and care of the course.
If such adage has merit, this course is going downhill.
There are restrooms at the range and clubhouse. No water fountains, no potable water on the course. On the plus side there is an ice machine at the range.
I found several holes to play blind. There is no layout of the course on the score card. Distances only on the tees. And I played this course over a year ago, just can't visualize the turns and hazards between tee and green.
I won't be playing this course again....
Unfriendly
Older fellow working the counter refused to let me check in as a single, which is how my tee time was booked due but to “singles cause pace of play issues” I got paired me with a walker, who was a nice as could be but was an older gentleman who was extremely slow. Overall the layout is enjoyable but the staff leave much to be desired due to me being treated like I was not welcome there.
Solid Course, Nothing Life-changing
The course itself has such a fun layout, but it’s only half way taken care of and the greens are BRUTAL. The pace of play was horrific, but you can tell they aren’t used to the amount of players on that holiday. Great layout, mediocre up keep, and nothing else to offer outside of the course. The pro shop isn’t good for much else outside of a drink and buying the round. If you’re an avid golfer, it’s a course you probably play one and done
Very pleasant
This is not too challenging a course, but it’s very pleasant and well maintained. Also, it looks like they’re putting some decent money into course maintenance and improvements.
Very pleasant
Not a particularly difficult course, but a fun one to one to play.
Unfriendly cashier and misleading information
Unfriendly hick cashier running the pro shop. Called and got no pickup when trying to schedule a nine hole tee time, (I only tried to call because there was only an option to book 18 here) show up with my dad at 5:00 and was told to walk if we wanted to play. Tee times are advertised as available with a cart online until almost 6:00 for 18 holes. Clearly not the case.
Great condition
Great condition for this time of year.
Greens rolled well and fast

Apparently it's winter golf
I was impressed with the amount of rain that had fallen and how well it was absorbed by the course. In fairness the course was in pretty good condition.
I was not imppressed with the behavior of other golfers. And less impressed with their ability to keep a good pace of play. I admit it has nothing to do with the course itself. But it does say a lot about what is permitted on a relatively "slow" day at the course - there were not that many players on the course.
Course is not as bad as advertised.
Areas that needed some care are couple of tee boxes and greens but overall good value.
Fun Course
Cottonwood is a fantastic layout. The staff is friendly and helpful. It truly is a championship design to me. Never seems to be in great condition but still a fun place to place. Tees and fairways are in good condition right now. Greens look nice but are pretty slow. Bunkers not so great. They are doing a lot of work around there so hopefully the overall condition will continue to improve.
